Branching Out Cakes

My wedding cake was absolutely amazing! I am very picky when it comes to cake and honestly the cake was the best. I never knew butter cream could taste so good.

Jill was very flexible and when my fiance and I could not agree on one flavor (he wanted chocolate, I wanted lemon), she suggested we do separate cake layers of both for no additional fee. Jill offered to make the entire cake lactose free because my fiance can't drink milk. I met with her on two occasions and even though we had picked the flavors during our first meeting, she served us cake again and she sent me home with a mini lactose-free chocolate cake for my fiance. Seriously, who does that!

Jill sketched the cake based on my invitation design and a couple other pictures I had brought and the cake turned out exactly how I had envisioned it. It was beautiful and yummy!

Catermarin

CaterMarin catered my wedding last month and did a fabulous job. Our guests are still raving about the great food and the service; they even came around and offered the guests seconds! I got major brownie points from the new in-laws for having such a wonderful reception with great food.

With a few exceptions, the owner Terry was very responsive to my calls and e-mails and humored my bridezilla-esque whims (don't even get me started on table clothes). At the last minute Terry also agreed to cater my rehearsal dinner for 40 and worked on the details while on vacation. The fact that the day was perfect had a lot to do with Terry and her staff.

Mill Valley Flowers did a great job on the flowers for my wedding. The owner, Annabella was great to work with and created beautiful floral displays. One star off because they were fairly pricy.

I could not have asked for a better venue for my wedding. The site is perfect for a small to medium garden wedding. The grounds were beautiful and the staff was so friendly and accommodating!

Milvali Salon and Cosmetics

I recently got married and Milivali Salon did my hair and make-up and hair for my bridal party. Everything turned out okay, but I was not thrilled. First off, they seemed kind of disorganized; they must have called me three times changing the time of my appointment (for my wedding day!). I had originally made appointments for the entire bridal party, but realized that the salon changes a lot more for weddings, so I canceled the appointments for the bridesmaids and had them book them separately. I guess the salon did not cancel the original appointments and while I was getting my make-up done, someone who must have been the owner complained to me that now she had hair stylists with nothing to do. I'm sorry, but it's not my fault your staff can't figure out your appointment system! It was really unprofessional and caused extra stress that I really did not need.

Shay did my make-up and was really sweet. I went twice because I did not like the colors I had chosen the first time (my fault), but on my second visit, she used foundation that was WAY to dark and my fiance said I looked like one of those women who spent too much time in the sun. Weathered was not the look I was going for! The rest of the make-up looked good so I decided to keep the appointment for my wedding day, but ended up bringing my own eye-shadow and foundation so I wouldn't have to worry about the color not being right.

In the end, I was satisfied but not thrilled. My hope for my wedding day was to look the best I had ever looked and unfortunately that was not the case.
