Although Rick Dickerson, the owner of Gateway DJs, made us feel very comfortable while organizing the participation of his DJ at our wedding reception we were sorely disappointed in the performance and professionalism shown at the event. We had given the DJ a list of specific song requests, but barely half the list was played during the night. The DJ started out pretty well, but we were very upset when he went back on their company policy to only play edited versions of songs that contained curse words (one of the reasons we picked Gateway DJs) by playing an un-edited version of a song a few guests requested. This was very important to me since many of my guests were more conservative and there were several children in attendance (including our own two younger children).
We had an open bar and the DJ also took advantage of that. By the end of the night he was spending more time outside mingling with guests than doing his own job. When it came to payment he was noticably upset when my parents did not know they didn't accept checks (something they never mentioned to us either), so he followed them to an ATM where he also told them I (the bride) had never paid the deposit! Of course, my mother tried to contact them about the situation, but they have never returned any communication and got away with an extra $100!
Overall, I was sorely disappointed in the DJ service and wouldn't recommend this company to any other bride or groom.
