I wish I would have read the other review on this site before choosing Gateway. We were also very disappointed. We went through Rich also, the owner. He did a great job during all of the preparation, very available for questions, appointments, etc. and is very good at talking about how good they are and neat things that they do for weddings. However we were very disappointed on the day of. We used him for the sound system at our outdoor wedding and he was over 1/2 hour late, so many guests saw him setting up his equipment and there was barely any music to enter to (which we had agreed upon). During the ceremony, he cut songs off too quickly making for several awkward silences (we went through this 1 week prior as well as our wedding coordinator going through cues the day of the wedding!) During the ceremony, he mispronounced names (again, things we went over beforehand) and read awkward introductions about our wedding party which he was supposed to make "really cool". I agree with the other bride in that he rarely played the songs (or even the genre of music!) that we liked and asked me several times if it was OK to play a certain song (??). Just weird.

Although Rick Dickerson, the owner of Gateway DJs, made us feel very comfortable while organizing the participation of his DJ at our wedding reception we were sorely disappointed in the performance and professionalism shown at the event. We had given the DJ a list of specific song requests, but barely half the list was played during the night. The DJ started out pretty well, but we were very upset when he went back on their company policy to only play edited versions of songs that contained curse words (one of the reasons we picked Gateway DJs) by playing an un-edited version of a song a few guests requested. This was very important to me since many of my guests were more conservative and there were several children in attendance (including our own two younger children).

We had an open bar and the DJ also took advantage of that. By the end of the night he was spending more time outside mingling with guests than doing his own job. When it came to payment he was noticably upset when my parents did not know they didn't accept checks (something they never mentioned to us either), so he followed them to an ATM where he also told them I (the bride) had never paid the deposit! Of course, my mother tried to contact them about the situation, but they have never returned any communication and got away with an extra $100!

Overall, I was sorely disappointed in the DJ service and wouldn't recommend this company to any other bride or groom.
