We HAD to use Coastal Gourmet, because they are the only caterers authorized to work on the Mystic Seaport grounds. They have a tasting party a few times a year, for all couples getting married within a specific amount of time, where you can taste all the different types of menus you can have. Since we got married at the boatshed, we only had a choice of three different menus, and really, only one worked for us. However, the one that worked for us was perfect, as it was filet mignon and salmon, which is what we would have chosen anyway. They were also accommodating of our vegetarian guests. The food was delicious, and working with the catering team and the cake team was incredibly easy and fun.
Rick and Virginia are amazing! We loved working with them every step of the way, and they were extremely professional, kind, and talented. We liked their photography style, and we enjoyed meeting with them and working with them.
Pat is a wonderful person who made our ceremony totally personal and intimate. Many of our guests commented on her presence and how moving she made the ceremony. She was absolutely wonderful.
My mom's friend who brought us into the ceremony on his boat also gifted us with a bagpiper! Glenn was hilariously funny in addition to being incredibly talented.
The stylist I got assigned to was angry that I chose my own hairstyle for the day, and that she didn't get to design one. I brought in a picture for her of what I wanted, but at the trial, she insisted on doing what SHE wanted, not what I had asked for. The day of, I let her know ahead of time that if I didn't leave the salon with the exact hairstyle I requested, I would have my stepmother cancel the payment for it. She did do what I asked after that, but I should not have had to say that to her, and I should not have been then physically tormented by her pulling, stabbing, and yanking my hair. The salon itself was also unprofessional, refusing to call me back when I tried to make the appointments for the wedding day. I would never go back, and will tell everyone I know to not patronize this salon.
Alissa was amazing! She created an invitation that perfectly fit our wedding style, and was extremely easy to contact and work with. Everyone loved our invitations, and we felt they really represented the overall feel of our wedding day.
Thomas was incredibly professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. He was wonderful to work with through our entire planning process, and his online form for song requests and do-not-play lists made things easy for us. Also, he put his own touch on the music - instead of just playing a list of songs, he actually DJed, and mixed songs according to the crowd and what would go well together. we could not have been happier with him and his work.
