We rented an extra tent and heater for the outdoor cocktail area, and everything looked great, and they were very professional.
This was a great honeymoon spot. Not too far from the Cancun area (although we never went into Cancun except when we left the airport, so I don't know if I would try to go downtown at night). Great variety of food, but some of the restaurants weren't that great (all-inclusive with 8 restaurants). We booked a trip to Chichen-Itza through the hotel that got really screwed up but we got a free massage out of it. The last night I got sick, and I don't know if maybe the water at the resort made me sick, but it was bad when I had to be on a plane the whole next day. Really modern resort, a lot of fun things to do.
Everything was great until 2 weeks before the wedding when I tried to email the song I was walking down the aisle to and the file was too big and I asked the manager to just download it off amazon.com for $1, I even said we would give him an extra dollar, I sent him a direct link, and he could not figure it out. It was baffling that he could not figure out to download a song from amazon. I ended up having to buy a flash drive and my fiance had to drive to take it to him on a sunday, it was ridiculous. Then, at the wedding, the actual dj (whom we hadn't met before, we picked him because he was young and his bio made him sound like he was really knowledgeable)was ok, he did his job, but afterward everyone was like "Your DJ was mean, we didn't like him." And I had given the manager a timeline but the DJ never got it and had to keep asking me when we wanted to do each thing.
This is the only vendor that I was 100% happy with. I loved my cake, it was delivered when it was supposed to be, tasted great, Eileen was great to work with.
Everyone LOVED the food. They said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. Endive was really great with working with our menu so we could have things we like to eat. They even let us have prime rib! There were a few mixups with the guy who was their manager for the night, things I had said to him at the walkthrough didn't get done. Like I wanted box-fold napkins to be set out at each place setting during the room flip so that the table at least looked a little set, because we weren't setting out plates or glasses, and I wanted more than just my centerpieces, but they showed up with the silverware folded up in my napkins and they were put in a basket, so they never got set out. And they had moved some of my candles and stuff, so when I was showing the person who was helping decorate, we were running around for 10 minutes trying to find my stuff and it was in the kitchen the whole time. And we never got our to-go plates put in the car at the end of the night, and my husband never got any of the food because he didn't eat during the reception.
I was really disappointed with my florist. I shopped around and went with Perfect Petals because she made it seem like she knew exactly what I wanted and she could make everything exactly like I wanted it. I had shown her pictures of what I wanted and she knew what I wanted everything to look like, and what I got was NOT it. I wanted a white bouquet, it was yellowish. I had silver leaves on my bouquet that she had just spraypainted, and when I got the bouquet the paint was already coming off. The main thing I wanted was two trees to be like an arch at the front of the ceremony spot, with long branches arcing over us. What I got was a teeny starburst-looking thing on top of a pole. They were so ugly. And in our pictures it looks like there are little spiky things coming out of our heads. My centerpieces were branches, also, and they were so sparse. I wish I had just done everything myself, because I guess she didn't get that that was the most important part of the wedding to me. And now everyone's like "No one noticed but you" but the point is if it were how I wanted it, everyone would have been like "your trees were so cool". So yes, it matters.
Ray was awesome, everyone commented how great of a job he did, it wasn't boring, and he is so fun and easy to get along with, and his wife jane helped out during the wedding and she was great.
Sara is actually a student, so I paid less than $1000 for my pictures, and she gave me the high-res digital files so that I can go get them printed as I wish (an album is not included, but I'd rather get my own printed for a lot cheaper anyway). She took some great photos, I had to come up with a lot of the shots, and I wish she had taken more pics of the details, but for the price she is a great photographer. www.sarachapman.com/fitzgerald_o'reilly2
