Linda is a woman who works out of her house to do alterations. I went to her because my sister had her wedding dress altered there, and another sister her prom dress. My mom also got her dress altered there as well. She is very friendly and knows what she is doing when it comes to alterations and sewing. Her prices are reasonable as well
I worked with Jen for quite a while before the wedding. I first went in to meet Jen to have a hair trial done, and I loved her personality and my hair looked great. Then we also scheduled an appointment for a few days before the wedding for a trim and to put some layers in to make they styling easier. The Color Bar is not open on Sundays, but Jen and Courtney (the owner) opened their doors just for me and my girls. They let us bring breakfast and drinks and we had a very enjoyable morning with them. Every one was happy with the way their hair turned out!
I am not one who normally wears make up, and Kelsey did a great job making me look natural, but also making it noticeable. She really knows what there is to know about make up and applying it. She was very helpful with different options and advice when it came to making decisions. I loved the way my make up turned out, and it stayed on ALL night!
Jeff had DJ'd at my sisters wedding in February 2008, and we thought he did a great job. We had to plan from out of state, so a lot of our contact was through email. Jeff was quick to respond to all of our emails and answered any questions we had. He played all the songs we wanted and was great to fit the right music at the right time. I don't think the reception would have been as much fun as it was if it wasn't for Jeff!
We were very lucky to find Paul and Brenda to be our photographers for our wedding! Just 15 days before our wedding day, we decided to change photographers, and just happened to come across the website for Upstate Photographers, and they had the 28th open! Paul and Brenda were able to meet with our mothers (we were still in NC) on a Monday, and then again with us once we got to NY. Paul and Brenda were great photographers, we didn't even notice they were there most of the night! Our photos were posted on line about a month after the wedding, and they turned out beautifully. We are still waiting for our proofs, DVD and Photo album, but haven't yet reached that part of our photographers "time line" I will be sure to post more about that when we get them!
I had one request from the florist, and that was to have our main flower as hydrangeas. The bouquets were georgeous! I couldn't have been happier with what we were given. The centerpiece were also beautiful, Firefly Florist went above and beyond what I expected the day of the wedding.
Love love loved the cake! We went for a cake tasting which was great. They came out with a tray of mini-cakes (unfrosted) and little cups of their fillings and frostings so we could come up with our own combonations of flavors. We ended up choosing a marble cake with raspberry jam and whipped frosting. It was a simple 3 tiered cake, with sage green "pearls" all over and flowers on top of it from our florist. The cake was so good, I wish I had some to eat right now. Michael and I were not planning to freeze the top of our cake to save for our anniversary, because several people have told us that it really just doesn't freeze well or taste good a year later. Unfortunaltely with all of the things going on at the end of the night, the top of the cake never made it out of the van when the gifts were taken out. I was able to call Villa Italia the next day and they remembered exactly what we had ordered, and had a new top ready by 3:00 that afternoon. I have to say, it was just as delicious as the day of the wedding, and we don't have anymore left to eat!
The tuxedos all came in earlier than the estimated date we we given. Also, all of the tuxedos were the right size and fit, there were no mistakes made at all!
