Johnson's is a good bakery. They can provide a limited but very delicious variety of cake, but do not ask them to do anything outside their past experience because they will not try new things. This is both good and bad...good because you don't get some failed experement but bad if you want something atypical. The cutsomer service is ok but not great and be sure you use the bathroom before you go for your consultation because you can not use theirs, nor can you sit down while you talk about spending several hundred dollars at their bakery.
Kathy has such a great work ethic. We would have loved to use her. So will try anything, but will not send out a product that she herself is not happy with. she only takes on one event per date so she books quickly and when she gives you a deadline for payment you had better make it cause she will give your date away without a second warning. I wish I had been able to use her. She is very talented her customer service is awsome and her cakes are so moist and delicious.
This was a great business. Plenty of variety in their Tuxedo selection. Professional help anytime you enter or call them. They have their rules, but they are up front about them and willing to help with what they can. We used the branch in Waterloo/Cedar Falls as our main location, we also used the one in Des Moines and the supporters in Davenport.
They are very helpful. They will work with any decorative motif and any budget. All of the contacts are equally helpful.
Wayne is a very nice man that reminds me fondly of my grandpa. Which makes it easy to be comfortable around him, but he is not the sort to tell you what he wants. He will ask you to sit or stand, but will not tell you that your glasses are blocking your eyes or to drop your chin or tilt your head. We learned a lot about working with him after our engagement session and I'm glad we did. Luckily he works with an assistant during most weddings and she tells you everything she wants.
I worked with Kasey Larsen via email and over the phone and I was thrilled with Kasey's ability to connect with me and understand the ideas I had. She had a great knack for understanding my descriptions and making them better. Unfortuantely I can not recommend this vendor. After our great connection she never again meet a deadline. Everything was late and took 2-3 tries to get what was promised even though it was paid for in full in advance.
I worked with Sheri Boston. Of all the vendors I worked with during my wedding Sheri was my favorite. I sent her a collage of photos of things that I liked some of them were not the right colors or not the right flowers, but she was able to put together all of my bouquets in such a beautiful way. She had some great tips. I thought I wanted a medium sized bouquet, but when I sent her a photo of me trying my dress at the shop she recommended a cascading bouquet and after asking my heigth actually recommended a smaller bouquet to fit my size. She was so right. She was promt in all of her deliveries and all of her promises were kept. And oh so affordable. I will use her again in the future for all of my flower needs.
Len Swiatly is the owner/chef of A Moment in Thyme. He is great at what he does and reasonable about his prices. He will try anything once or twice, but will not put something on him menu until he is absolutely satisfied with it. He does not accept good food only great food. He is easy to talk to and thinks and acts like a normal person not some snotty head chef that thinks his food is made of gold. If I ever have an even in Waterloo/Cedar Falls again I will use him as often as possible.
