Jacques has a reputation for being the best, and they did not disappoint.
Not only was the cake delicious, the staff was extremely accommodating and had a number of flavor and size options to meet our budget. We got to taste everything, and boy were there options -- everything from espresso cake to Bailey's buttercream frosting.
We had a four-tier cake with different flavors for each layer. Two layers were traditional chocolate and white cake, each with raspberry preserves. But our favorite, which we used for one of the layers and the top layer (the one we took home -- Jacques includes it in the overall price) was a spice cake with apple preserves, with cinnamon and caramel buttercream. It was perfect for our fall wedding and absolutely delicious.
FYI: Jacques isn't on the Seacoast, but they deliver all over northern New England. I think our delivery charge was about $100, but they may differ depending on distance, day of the week or season.
PJ's is amazing. They're based in Bedford, NH, about an hour from the Seacoast, but they do deliver to the Sheraton. We lived in Manchester at the time, and PJ is a family friend who has done other weddings that we've been to.
He totally put us at ease and understood our "vision" completely. When we weren't sure what we wanted, he talked us through it and showed us different options.
He also gave us helpful tips for saving money, like buying our own vases from (we got them at Grenon Trading Co. on Route 101 -- a huge craft supply store). We waited until they were on sale and got them for about $45!
The flowers were definitely one of our favorite parts of the wedding -- absolutely beautiful.
I never really understood what limo companies meant when they said things like "superior service" or "special attention to detail" on your wedding day. Don't they just have to show up and get you there on time?
I totally got it on our wedding day. Richard, our driver from Grace, blew me away.
It was raining out, and he patiently escorted each of my six bridesmaids to the limousine under umbrellas before coming back for me. Once we were alone, he took out some tissues and tucked them discreetly in between the flowers in my bouquet, in case I needed them during the ceremony. He made sure my engagement ring was switched to my right hand (so my wedding band would slide right on). He escorted us into the church, and put gloves on before spreading out my dress behind me as I made my way down the aisle with my dad.
Now that is serious top notch service. He was so sweet.
