We had such a wonderful time at Magnolia's that I just can't stand it! Our reception was held on the private 2nd floor, and the elevator definitely gives it a swankier feel. We were allowed to come in a day early to set everything up, and they were cool with all the changes we made (I'm a DIY queen so we tucked away a lot of their stuff). The food was so incredible that guests are still talking about it three months later! The manager (Todor) was wonderful and accommodating, and the staff was everything we could have asked for. They even took down all of our stuff and packed it up securely and separately, and there were a LOT of moving parts to our decor. That last touch blew me away because we dragged in there the next day expecting to have to handle it ourselves. I honestly can't say enough good things about Mag's and would recommend a wedding reception here to anyone.
Staff was polite to my husband and I, but rude to pretty much everyone else. My cousin sprained her ankle and asked at check-in if anyone could help her to her room - she was asked if she wanted them to carry her up. So yeah, not very good service. My room was nice - big one in the back corner with a terrace and a kitchenette. We were shooed off a common deck around 1 am, though I don't remember any signs or other warning that the area would be off-limits during a certain time (especially during the off-season). I picked this hotel because the prices were good, but now I understand why.
Jenn was wonderful! First, she offers a very convenient service for a great price. Our hotel is a couple blocks away from what seems to be the IT place to get your hair done, but we got to hang out in my hotel room all morning drinking mimosas and telling jokes while she did our hair for less than we would have paid to go out. Jenn got there on time and ready to work, and she styled three very different hair types -including one very thick, long head of hair and one very fine, hard to curl- in less than 2.5 hours. Our curls were great and stayed bouncy through some pretty strong beach wind, and she left extra supplies to get us through the day. She was a blast to talk to and a perfect way to start my wedding morning!
Bump was awesome, and so nice to work with! He was very professional and worked hard to find clean versions of songs we specified, and some of them were a little difficult to get. He went over the timing of our reception in detail the day before, and kept our wedding day moving right on schedule, at a smooth pace. Everyone had a great time, and he played a perfect mix of music. Highly recommend.
Dee delivered a beautiful, delicious wedding cake that was even better than we'd expected! I found a couple pictures of what I wanted, she showed me a similar cake she had produced before, and managed to come up with something even prettier. Her prices were great, but note that I had a planner package.
We rented both the Jolly bus and 12 passenger van, and both were clean and prompt. The driver on my bridal party van was personable, and the driver on the other bus was cool enough to let my aunt run off to retrieve a forgotten camera, and they still made it with plenty of time to spare. Prices were very reasonable.
Cyndi was great to work with, and the prices she managed to get for what we wanted -and got- were wonderful. Well, most of it. Had to take off a star for the photographer, but the rest of our experience was wonderful.
I wish I could give no stars. She got lost and showed up late. She took a bunch of pictures and most came out fine, but she gave little to no direction and as wedding rookies, my husband and I just kind of had to wing it. Her editing skills are slim to none. Kristie is very nice, but basically just a woman with cameras and time on her hands. I have a big camera and like to take pictures as well, but I would never market myself as a professional qualified to shoot the memories of someone's wedding day. Luckily, she was the only bad part of our entire wedding experience, and some of our guests saved the day by getting really good shots.
