My husband and I hired Justin Jenny as our DJ for our August 20, 2011 wedding at Lake Morey Resort. This letter is to convey how very disappointed we are for choosing Justin Jenny as our DJ. He seemed like a good choice as he’d done weddings at our venue before and came across as a hip young DJ. His emails and phone calls all seemed professional and he was friendly and outgoing but once the big day arrived, we had a number of problems.
The worst mistake by far was the error in introducing my husband and I (He skipped four people in the bridal party on the list I gave him) and introduced us while numerous members of our wedding party were still walking in. That did not look very good on our wedding video.
He claimed that we owed him more money than the $900 we had already payed him which was written in our contract (He had brought somebody else’s contract) then told me that I could just tip him instead since he was wrong about the money. Very unprofessional!
He approached my wedding planner about how to do numerous things including The Anniversary Dance after we had discussed it on the phone the night before and he said no problem, he’d done it before.
I had emailed him a complete schedule of the night and he failed to do a number of things on the schedule (centerpiece game, anniversary dance, giving a shout out to relatives for traveling so far) I was obviously very busy as the bride especially as I had over 250 people there and I had to approach him each time we were about to do something (Toasts, Father/daughter Dance, Cake Cutting) and remind him of other things he needed to do (Dedicate a song to my mom, Say happy Birthday to my uncle) As a bride I should not have had to do all that…He had it all written down in front of him.
My guests have said that there was not good communication and he failed to announce things so they didn't know when events were happening and missed them.
He had a list of my wedding party names in order (phonetically spelled out), a schedule for the night, and also a complete list of songs but he chose not to play a lot of our music and picked songs on his own. He even tried to play one song
twice which shouldn't happen when he had a whole list of music that he was supposed to be playing. We could have just hooked up our own laptop to the speakers and it would have done a much better job without having to pay $900 (or more had we taken his word for it that we owed him more) and stress ourselves out on our big day.
Needless to say we were not satisfied at all with his work ethic, professional demeanor, or the quality of his DJ skills. We will not recommend and will discourage the use of Best Bands to anyone of our many family and friends getting married in the near future.
DO NOT USE!!!!
The Staff of the Lake Morey Inn was exceptional in every way. Our wedding was professionally handled by the wedding coordinator who make sure everything went off without a hitch. Great Job!
