Michelle LoConte

What can I say here except She did AMAZING work. It was my mother, two sisters and myself. Michelle worked on my youngest sister first and she loved her hair. My middle sister turned into Bridesmaidzilla when she looked in the mirror and decided that her hair was leaning too far to the left (it was). Michelle was patient and repositioned the starting ponytail (without taking anything down) and fixed my sisters hair until it was perfect. For my mother, Michelle did an amazing amazing job. I hope I can get pictures of this from someone but here is the story – my mother is a cancer survivor and was treated with radiation on her brain and chemo. She lost all of her hair (4 years ago) due to this. It has since grown back but it is above her shoulders and VERY thin and that is being generous. My mother is a hairdresser by trade and refused to wear a wig. She didn’t like the way they fit, felt, or looked and I couldn’t blame her. She told Michelle that she thought that just curling her hair would be best – and it WAS! Michelle used a curling iron and made small curls all over. She positioned some of the curls to cover the thinner spots of my mothers hair and when she was done, my mother looked fantastic! That in itself could have made me cry that day.

For my hair, I gave Michelle a picture and she replicated it almost exactly. I was super happy with my hair and it stayed up all night long perfectly. She started around 9:30am and was done by about 11:45am.

As a side note – I never went for a trial and I never spoke to Michelle (we emailed back and forth) until the day before the wedding. She is an absolute sweet heart!

Faces By Katie

I was referred to Katie by JennyBS from the knot. I went out to Katie’s house to do a trial and afterwards knew that she was perfect. My makeup looked great and it was right for me. She chose make up that complimented my skin/eye/hair color.

The day of the wedding she was there on time and as Michelle was finishing hair styles, Katie was beginning make-up for the next available person. The morning went so smoothly.

On top of Katie being really easy to get a long with and doing a wonderful job, she is VERY reasonably priced. I spoke to so many make-up people who wanted $100+ and I couldn’t afford that and didn’t want my family to pay that either. As far as her prices go, if you want her information contact me offline and I will let you know.

Russell’s Bridals

I went to Russell’s because they were the only place that I could find that carried my dress which was by Alfred Angelo. Many other places carried Alfred Angelo but for whatever reason, not this particular dress. So I went there, tried on a bunch of dresses including the one I called about and knew that none of the other ones I tried on were the one for me. My dress was White and Black. The back detail is Gorgeous on this dress. I ordered it in Nov 2006 and it came in July 2007. I went for one real fitting. They took my measurements with my shoes on in the beginning of October. I went back at the end of October and the dress was done and fit perfectly.

They also did a fitting and alterations for my sister who didn’t buy her dress there. This make it an A+ from me.

NYC Photobooth Inc.

Not really a photographer, but it did take photos :)

This was our splurge purchase but also doubled as our favors. After much thought about what would people use and what would they just toss we decided that the photobooth was perfect for us.

People were on line the entire night and everyone of all ages used it. The only thing that I wish was different was I should have gotten the bridal party together during the cocktail hour to take pictures with all of them because once the reception started it was hard to get back in there.

We got a photo scrap book and a disk with all the pictures taken. It was worth every penny. People constantly mention it to us.

Neil Van Niekerk

We absolutely loved Neil from the first time we spoke to him. We loved all of his work and I especially loved that my husband got along with him as well. He seemed to dislike EVERY other photographer within minutes of talking to them!

Neil did our engagement pictures and although it was freezing and rainy out, they came our beautiful.

Our wedding pictures speak for themeselves. Everyone who has seen them has thought that they are fantastic. Neil and his second photographer, Elisabeth Millay were unobtrusive and really a joy to work with. Neil was so fantastic, that we still have one more photo session with him!

Rob was great to work with. His turn around time was fantastic and the video is great. The recap tells the whole story beautifully in two minutes and for anyone who doesn't want to sit through hours of a wedding video that is priceless to have.
