My fiance (now husband) and went to her to test cakes. I specifically requested to try lemon cake, but she didn't have any available to try, so instead we tried her vanilla with blackberry cream cheese filling. It was really good; it was so good that my husband really wanted her to do our cake. So, we started to explain the cake design that we wanted, and she kept telling us that the things we were choosing about our cake would be extra: fondant ribbon instead of satin--extra, lemon cake--extra, sugar flowers--extra. I understand that she has to tell brides those sort of things in order to keep herself from being bombarded with people who don't want to pay for it, but in my mind, she was just making me feel miserable about the cake I wanted. Also, the attitude she had when she kept talking to us made it sound like she didn't want to do the style of cake we wanted. I was ready to leave, but I could tell that my husband really liked the cake...so we paid the deposit and she sent us preliminary drawings of the cake with a final bill. The drawings of the cake were beautiful and we were really excited to see the final creation at the reception. However, when we got to the reception, we were really disappointed. The tiers were square, so they were supposed to turn slightly to add a creative illusion to the cake. She didn't turn the tiers, so the cake looked boringly square and not unique like we had planned at all. Also, the colors were nothing like the colored paint chips I had given her as a color pallette for the cake. Instead, the colors were boring and dull, making the cake seem dark and unattractive. And there were mistakes on the cake EVERYWHERE! A smudge here, a crease there; you could tell where she pieced the fondant ribbon together to separate the tiers, and it just looked sloppy. To top it off, she didn't even flavor the cake right. We had lemon cake, but instead of having vanilla with blackberry cream cheese filling, we had vanilla with buttercream filling! My husband was devastated because he had so been looking forward to that cake and now he didn't even get the type of cake he truly wanted. I was really upset because this was one of the few things he specifically requested and then he didn't even get any of the cake he was trully wanting. I understand that we both probably had really high expectations for this lady; but, if you were only getting married once and you were paying over $500 for a 4-tiered cake and a half sheet cake, wouldn't you expect it to be a fantastic cake?! So, if you want to deal with a person who makes you feel like your cake design is stupid, doesn't always answer her phone when you wan to confirm the order, and then ends up messing up the order in the end...the this is your baker! Otherwise, there were other bakers in the area that were a lot nicer and were much more affordable.
The most amazing photographer ever! And very affordable...plus she takes pictures of the rehersal and rehersal dinner! She is an all day wedding coverage photographer, so she took pictures of us getting our hair done to the end of the reception! It was fantastic! And the pictures turned out so amazing! There were so many to choose from!!!!! I would recommend her to all of my engaged friends!!
