I did not want a traditional wedding dress, then again I did not want to look much for one either. So, I found Amsale had Little White Dresses on their website. I made an appointment and went with a friend and my stepmother. After trying on 6 dresses the last one was THE ONE and affordable for my budget. I ordered a size 2 and it fit perfectly. Did not need alterations even though I paid for it. Also, I'm told it was a big hit at the wedding.
We decided on Macy's for the location of our registry, however we were so disappointed with the variety at the Smith Haven Location. Our registry barely had 20 items. We had not had the time to make it to the 34th St location even though we lived and worked in nyc. I wish I had forced myself to register at 34th street.
I met Lilly through my hairstylist and she is fantastic. She lives in NJ, but has her salon in nyc. However, she frequently does makeup for a number of weddings on Long Island.
I have known Petra for a number of years and although she is from the nyc area she drove out to Stony Brook to do my hair. As it turns out, she frequently styles hair for weddings on Long Island.
Nancy the florist was great, especially since I know nothing about flowers. On the 1st visit with her we went with a handful of cutout pictures from wedding books. In the end I never stuck with my wedding colors and panicked right before the wedding, but Nancy was able to bring all the colors together. It's been 6 months since the wedding and friends still mention how great the flower arrangements were.
Captain Arnold was a big hit at our wedding. Family and friends enjoyed what he had to say. We did not want a traditional wedding ceremony especially since it was at the venue, so Captain Arnold did just fine.
Marc was our DJ and he was fantastic. My family loved him. He played all the songs we asked for and stayed away from the songs we said not to play.
Hotel accomodations were good not really much to say there.
