Wolfgang Puck

2010-09-29 17:52:58

Wolfgang Puck is well renowned in the States, but we had never heard of him or the company here in the UK! We were soon to realise that the food was of great quality, and were guided through the options by the Catering Sales Manager, Keith Mahoney. Keith was very flexible and accommodated our requests, always being very clear about pricing and quantity etc. On the day, the food was superb and the service impeccable. Both received many compliments from our guests. Keith was there to meet us and wish us well, then slipped off once everything was in place. We can't recommend Wolfgang Puck highly enough and it was a pleasure dealing with Keith and his team.

Barbara Khan, Justice of the Peace

Barbara was very welcoming, and invited us to her home to meet us and run through the service. She made some very helpful suggestions and options for things if we struggled to be specific. On the day of the ceremony she was a calming presence, using all of her experience to bring laughter and sincerity in the perfect measure. We actually enjoyed and remember most of the ceremony, something that we didn't expect! Barbara was eloquent and warm throughout, and it was such a pleasure to have her leading the way. Many of our guests commented on her and how enjoyable she made it, we could not recommend her highly enough. Thank you Barbara for making the day so special.

Ana de Roux

Because the theme was travelling, I was scanning the web for invitations to match. I literally came upon Ana De Roux's website which turned out to be a perfect match! Ana custom makes stationary and wedding invites, some which are travelling themes (boarding passes and passports). I would have loved to get the passport style ones however they were more expensive. The boarding passes were creative and personable. I had one wedding guest bring the invite into work to show people because he was so impressed. Ana only needed my list of invites and addresses and she went to work. I got them done in less than three weeks. A bargain and ones that everyone will remember. A perfect 5 star rating! Icing on the Cake

My cake came from a recommendation from a friend who lives on the East Coast and used them for her son's birthday cake. My cake was unique (picture above); the theme was travelling therefore the 'Icing on the Cake' worked with me to create what I was looking for. Not only did it look amazing, but it tasted even better! Butter cream was the key! We will be looking forward to our one year anniversary to eat the top. Yum. Just look a website, they can do just about anything. Because I did it from overseas, I trusted them with everything. They delivered on all accounts; I would highly recommend.

'I Do' Wedding Hair

2010-09-29 16:06:43

Eva from 'I do' hair did an amazing job on all of our hair dos for my big day. Eva listened to what I was thinking and offered very constructive suggestions to help me figure out what look I was going for. On the day of the wedding, Eva was prompt, and prepared. She came right to my apartment and got to work I would recommend Eva for any of your wedding hair needs - she's very talented, creative and responsible. There is a travelling fee for coming to you on the day ($75), and for the trial you're expected to go to the stylists salon/home; this may be inconvenient to some. Discuss before you book.

The Makeup Artists

2010-09-29 15:57:20

Boston Makeup Artist is a company which comes to your house/apartment to do the make up for the bride and all the wedding party. This also includes junior bridesmaids and mother of the bride/groom. Andrea made you feel comfortable in her presence, she made the experience fun! It worked out perfect for me who could not drive around on my wedding day; they come to you. Easy! :) Discuss the travelling fee prior to booking.

Alberts of Brookline

2010-09-29 12:37:05

We used ‘Albert’s of Brookline’ because my husband used to buy me flowers from the local florist whilst I was living in Brookline. The florist is a bit out of the city; therefore the cost was less expensive than others. Albert was very personable and accommodating. He didn't try and over sell us on flowers or push us to buy things we didn't need. A good find when you're on a budget.

Entertainment Concepts

2010-09-29 12:11:05

Another high mark for a great service indeed! We found Entertainment Concepts on Wedding Mapper; lets just say they lived up to their name times ten. I have to admit that my husband and I were hesitant to get a DJ as we weren't sure if one could suit all the age ranges and tastes of music we were looking for. We were so happy with our DJ, Scott, who met with us personally to go over the play list. Scott was helpful and creative, resourceful and original. On the day, he played music that suited all our guests- the dance floor was packed all night! I would highly recommend Entertainment Concepts; from the first phone call the manager was there to answer any questions we may have. 5 stars!

Museum of Science

2010-09-29 12:00:38

I'm not one to continue to give high marks just to please people, it's the truth! We had our reception in the Skyline Room at the Museum of Science which is located on the Charles River, directly on top of it. The views were simply spectacular. We aimed our cocktail hour for the gorgeous sunset. Watching the staff was a military operation! They were attentive and looked after people very well. We had two coordinators who helped with anything we needed. From day one, the MOS worked with us for every little detail. They accommodated a DVD slide show for us and met with us on several occasions to discuss all our details. You can have your ceremony there also; however we chose to have ours off site. You can also have a ceremony/reception outside however that seats up to 300 and because we had 75, we chose the room inside which seats up to 100. Whilst outside would be lovely, the views of the Boston skyline from the room inside were unforgettable. It's definitely a five star rating however this does come at a premium. It is on the high end in terms of cost but if you can stretch your budget, the views are worth every penny on the day.

Old State House

2010-09-29 11:49:30

Wow. That is how I would sum up this spot for holding a ceremony. The Old State House is where the Declaration of Independence was read in 1776; how unique of a spot is that! The sweeping stair case and balcony to take pictures on were amazing. The only draw back it may have is that it only holds 75 people. If you are looking for an intimate wedding, this is perfect. The staff were helpful and professional from day one and the pictures from the balcony are awesome!
