Huron House Catering

This was by far my most disappointing vendor. The people we had dealt with prior to our wedding were super nice, but there were way too many problems on the day of. Most of the food was very good, I will give them that, but desert was bland and not what I expected. I ordered a trifle (stupid me should have done a taste test) and expected something with cream or custard. What I got was a cobbler, and not a good one at that. Our wedding coordinator had to talk to the woman in charge to tell a staff member not to be scowling while working, and there were some things left off some tables and when guests asked for the items (in one case butter for the bread as they were given none) they either had to ask twice for the items or it was made to seem like a nuisance. The biggest one, however, was the caterer told our coordinator to stop the speeches until coffee was served - as the first speakers were arriving at the microphone! The coordinator didn't have time to discuss it with us, so our first speakers ended up sitting down for another ten minutes, which was ridiculous and ticked me right off! I contacted the company regarding these (and many other issues - such as wedding wine going in the back room when it should have been returned to the bar and the catering staff had no reason to take it back there) and basically was made to feel like I was making a big deal out of nothing. They told me they'd never had a complaint before in all there years. Now I work in the restaurant industry, and if they had not received any complaints ever, then someone should call Oprah, cause they are the only food service business that has ever happened to! Obviously I'm still a bit annoyed. All I wanted was an acknowledgment, and all I got were excuses and made to feel like I was the one with the problem. Had we worked on the issues and come to a compromise (I wanted a small refund for the desert as what they served was not a trifle, but would have settled for just an acknowledgment) I may have been able to recommend them cautiously because the food, other than desert, was quite good, as were some of the staff. As it is, I would not recommend this company. It's worth paying an extra few dollars a person to avoid all the bs given by Huron House.

The best money we spent for our wedding!! Amy was calm, organized and handled everything so we could just enjoy our day. We had to switch the ceremony inside at the last minute and she got it all organized and even managed to incorporate things I hadn't thought of (instead of the bubbles used during the ceremony, which wouldn't have worked with our seating inside, she handed them out so our guests stood around us and blew bubbles for our first dance. They loved it and it was beautiful). I would 100% without a doubt recommend Amy...I've already had friends who were at our wedding telling me that they want her contact info for when they get married!! She went above and beyond!
