Jennifer was a very creative and friendly florist who is extremely talented and capable. That being said, I felt I could trust her to put together the flowers for our wedding with little input from me. Instead of telling her exactly what flowers, colours, etc. I gave her a broad palette to select from (light to medium rosey pink, ivory and cream, a touch of peach or fushia), a couple requests (lavender, herbs, wild flowers, garden roses, dahlias and anything else she felt appropriate), and a list of absolutely nots (gerbera daisies, orchids, orange flowers). I wanted only local, in season flower if possible. The bouquet she made was beautiful, but not what I requested. It was full of orange gerbera daisies, purple orchids, other orange flowers, no lavender, only a sprig or two of herbs, etc. I was so upset when I saw my bouquet that I took it into my hotel room and used manicure scissors to remove the orange gerberas. I had also asked for a smaller bouquet so I could actually hold it for longer, but it was huge and weighed a tonne! The boutonnieres were supposed to come on magnetic backs but she used pins on all of them and my brother's didn't even have a pin! Our ceremony was at 3pm and she was supposed to ask us at 1pm if we wanted the setup inside or outside based on the weather. Our wedding day the weather was very iffy and I was hoping to make the final call at 1pm as discussed but she called at 10am to have me make the decision, so I had her set up our chuppah outside and it ended up raining and we moved the ceremony inside. While the rain isn't her fault, I was really upset I had to make the call so early when I could have monitored the weather closer to ceremony time. That being said, I was planning to use a table cloth held up by guests as our chuppah when we moved inside and she thoughtfully brought a back up canopy that we used although all of our ceremony flowers were stranded outside. All in all, she's puts together beautiful arrangements, but I don't think she "got" me (she didn't even remember that I was a client at our 2nd meeting, she thought I was a new client and I had to remind her of our 1st meeting and that I had already paid her a deposit). Frankly, she would have only got one star in the ratings if it wasn't for that back up chuppah. I wouldn't book her again and would hesitate to recommend her to a friend.
Pete did our wedding photos and his videogrpaher did our video. The photos are beautiful, and Pete was great to work with when we were shooting romantic pics and during the ceremony, but I had hoped for more candid photos during our reception, of which there were almost none. He also neglected to take photos of our wedding party and we only have a handful of those. The most upsetting thing is that after the wedding he took much longer than anticipated to get us our photo discs and thank you cards, and when we did get the discs they were corrupt and he sassed us out about it (even though he admitted this was a problem he had with others as well). The short highlight reel of our video was great, the rest of the footage was choppy and so-so, about 2 hours worth in total (but we were led to believe that the whole day would be captured and expected 6-8 hours of footage). Overall, pleased, but the post-wedding interactions have left us a little sour.
