We did our tuxedo rentals here and, though it was a bit of a drive from Warrenton where we live, the service was much better than any other place we visited and the cost was lower than all others. Jim was a pleasure to work with and helped ensure that everything was taken care of/went smoothly for us.
Beautiful work. Created pocket folder invitations that were gorgeous and extremely elegant for a very reasonable fee. Heather is a pleasure to work with, is a very talented graphic artist, and helped create not just an invitation, but a beautiful momento of our wedding (one of my guests actually framed the invitation and gave it to me as a gift). I totally recommend her graphic art services for any wedding related item you may need printed.
We met Keith, who runs the company, during a tasting at our reception site. We got to see him work a little and talk with him and he was fabulous. The 4 hour package price was super reasonable and we were really excited to have him do our music.
Unfortunately, he was called off to Iraq to fight last minute, and so for our wedding we had a stand in. Our DJ, whose name I cannot remember, was okay, but I feel he was completely out of his comfort zone. He wanted us to give him specific times everything was to happen (ie, we will eat at this time and it will approximate last for 40 min, it will immediately be followed by dancing, which will last for this long, and then cake cutting which will happen at this time, etc.)
Unfortunately for him, this isn't how we work. We throw a party and we go with the flow, not wanting to interrupt people if they are really enjoying themselves to do, say a garter toss.
I give them three stars because he was super annoying, coming up to us every 10 min and asking us what to do and how to do it. I wanted to enjoy my wedding (and I think I even told him at one point that I was trying to enjoy myself and he needed to find my parents, who were paying him, and ask them).
He told us he would only stay for the 4 hours written in the contract, and so he wanted us to try and squeeze everything in (and so eating, the cake cutting, throwing flowers and a garter, and the entirety of dancing would have to happen in 2 hours.)
Luckily, my brother is a music major from UVA and a part time DJ and he offered to take over the second half of the night.
Caleb is my brother and when he found out that our DJ would be leaving at 7pm (even though our reception was scheduled to go until ~930pm) he quickly went home, got all his equipment, and took over the music for the second half of the night. Seeing/hearing him work, I think we should have had him do the whole wedding. He was fabulous! Its really fun to see people work who truly enjoy their job, and this was Caleb. He has tens of thousands of songs and has a real understanding/appreciation of music. A music major at UVA and a professional musician, he brings this experience mixed with the requests of those involved to create a really fun event. His equipment is really superb also. 100% recommend him.
Amazing. This cake was honestly one of the best I've ever had (and that is what all our guests said as well). They are a little strict and will only do certain things (ie, only buttercream/no fondant, only all white, and certain cake types) but I think this is because they know what tastes good and want to ensure perfection for their customers. Our cake was gorgeous and we got a buttercream frosted/lemon glaze pound cake which was perfect for the hot summer.
Their delivery service was great and it was super affordable (I think I paid a total of just under $400 for 160 people) and there was plenty left over. All in all, absolutely fabulous and I totally recommend!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would...because Katie and Leslie at Burnside Farms created, honestly, the most gorgeous and amazing flowers for our wedding that I have ever seen.
I had guests coming up to me all night saying, "wow, your wedding is so nice, you look great, and the Flowers! The Flowers are honestly the most amazing I have ever seen". I lost track of the number of people who said this to me.
And it was true. Burnside Farms is located off Rt. 15 in Haymarket and sells local produce. They also grow wholesale flowers. Leslie worked as a professional wedding florist for over 25 years before retiring. She's come out of retirement (thank the lord) and combined with her daughter, who is a true artist, the create AMAZING flowers.
It was a totally customized experience. I went to them and told them what I had in mind and the picked out and grew flowers specifically for our wedding. How many people can say that?!
The flowers smelled amazing, and the colors were vibrant and beautiful. As I said, it was a totally customized experience. They worked with me, even as close as up to 2 days before the wedding, to make sure I would have everything just as I wanted it. They even created my wedding favors, which were individual pots of lavender (and may I say, beautiful and amazing pots of lavender).
I cannot speak highly enough of this place. They are an organic farm as well, and it was great to work with them to help our wedding be more sustainable and green. So in the end, USE THEM FOR YOUR FLOWERS, you will not be disappointed, will be supporting local business, and will have the most beautiful flowers ever!
I could not be more pleased with photos Mona and Dan took for our wedding. They were great to work with and the quality of their work is second to none. They took thousands of pictures and the finished products look as if they honestly belong in a wedding magazine. They are beautiful! I couldn't be happier with them. We looked at several photographers before choosing them. The price of their services and what you get cannot be competed with. I totally recommend them to anyone who might be getting married in the Northern VA/Fauquier County area.
Horrible. Thank goodness we did not rent the tuxedos from them. Two of the groomsmen went here to have their measurements taken for their tuxedos. The measurements were completely wrong and, as a result, the father of the bride and one of the groomsmen did not fit into their tuxedos for the wedding. Thank goodness they had their own suits to wear.
