Ben Moss (Burnaby)

We got our wedding bands a few months ahead of the wedding date from the Ben Moss store at Metrotown. Service was prompt and professional, and prices were reasonable.

Moores

We had a very pleasant and hassle-free experience dealing with the staff at Moore's to arrange a tux rental package that required fitting both the groom in Vancouver and his best man in Calgary. It is quite amazing to me how they can prepare suits/tuxes for rental that fit perfectly based on a one-time measurement. Service was courteous and friendly; however the only minor issue we had was that there was a hole in the groom's rental pants that was not noticed at pick-up time but was discovered on the wedding day. Thankfully the groom and his dad were both tailors so they patched it up themselves. Take-home lesson: Inspect with painstaking care and detail all pieces of your rented attire before you take them home!!

Bailey's Video Studio

Bailey was recommended to us by good friends. On our wedding day, he videotaped just about every detail of our festivities (from tea ceremonies at our homes, to the wedding ceremony at the church, to the banquet reception in the evening). We received the final edited DVDs about 3 months after our wedding, beautifully packaged and skillfully edited. On our actual wedding date, he'd prepared an interim video from our daytime wedding day activities which was edited and shown the same evening at the dinner banquet. This same-day wedding show was incredible and made for an exceptionally memorable experience for our guests by all accounts. You can really tell he's very passionate about his work and is totally a pro in this field. You might wonder why he'd ask you to do things a certain way while he videotapes, but then you'd see how seamlessly and perfectly the action "flowed" in the edited version after he cuts and rehashes the different sequences of actions and events. Very creative and efficient. Cool guy to work with. Both thumbs up from this wedded couple.

Lovely Wedding Studio

Mindy Lien has many years of experience as a bridal stylist. She did hairstyling and make-up at my wedding (and my sister's wedding 3 years ago) for the bride, bridesmaids and bride's family members. In Mindy's hands, I was transformed into the prettiest bride on the planet (and I'm sure my husband agrees). She is very experienced and can readily work with different hair/facial qualities to bring out the most beautiful features in a girl.

Good Century Wedding Dress (China)

2010-08-11 14:43:00

Good Century Wedding Dress is a huge mall in Guangzhou, China, dedicated to all things related to weddings, from traditional Chinese wedding supplies to evening wear to accessories to wedding gowns. With care and patience, one can easily find very inexpensive goods of reasonable quality, you just have to pay attention to the quality because each store and each item can differ widely (in terms of quality to cost ratio). Customer service may be stellar or absent; for best service and bargains make sure to go with a local friend who is a resident of that city.

Michele Cake Shop

For our wedding cake, our family decided on this bakery, which happened to be already a favourite among our friends. Choosing our cake was hassle-free as the staff were very helpful and efficient. And the cake itself (3 layers each filled with fresh fruit) tasted wonderfully yummy!

Dollar Giant

2010-08-11 14:43:00

Surprisingly there can be some really good finds at Dollar Giant (various stores in the lower mainland area) and Fabricland in terms of ideas for decorations. Best to identify what you want first and then wait for a sale on your item(s) at Fabricland though. We got pink craft netting from Fabricland, and sticker accents from Dollar Giant. Curling ribbons (for tying decorations and for wrapping gifts) also widely available in many colours at most Dollar Giant stores for a fraction of the cost you'd need to pay elsewhere.

Style Florist

This florist's got lots of things going strong for it: (1) really nice and helpful staff (Stella and Patrick), (2) very reasonable prices for all of their flowers, (3) you can request just about anything and they will be more than happy to custom make to your desires and for any budget, and (4) floral arrangements that have never failed to impress with their beauty, vibrant colours, freshness, and the care that you can tell have gone into their creation. I have ordered flowers from them previously for other occasions and have never been disappointed.

Happiness Invitation & Greeting

2010-08-11 14:43:00

Mrs. Wing was very friendly and helpful when we initially met to discuss our wedding invitation needs. Their prices were very reasonable too. However, once the order was placed, we ran into a lot of difficulty every time we tried to get in touch with her or to follow up on our order. In the end, we got our order completed, and the invitations were done up beautifully, but they were about one month later than promised and cost me many weeks of worry and stress that really wasn't worth my trouble if I could choose again.

Sunday Wu Photography

2010-08-11 14:43:00

We decided to ask Sunday W. to be our wedding photographer since the pictures he took for my sister's wedding 3 years ago turned out so beautifully. His does a mix of classic and journalistic styles that was precisely what we'd wanted. His masterful artistry and photography skills and wonderful sense of style really stand out, especially with our Wedding Party photos during the outdoor photoshoot session. He is marvellous to work with and has truly amazing ideas for photo backdrops and posing. We are so happy that our wedding day pictures turned out soooo well...!!!! His camera has captured the most important moments on the happiest day of our lives and I am certain our wedding photos will be cherished for decades to come. Highly recommended by this married couple.
