The Margate has a few issues. Overall it was nice, but we rented a room for the bride and her party to get changed in, and they insisted she be out by 11 am, which was ridiculous as the wedding was at 4 pm. They wouldn't let her stay unless we rented a room for a second night! Usually, the bride is offered a room complimentary. We couldn't believe that they were ready to boot her out at 11 and make her stand around until 4! We eventually DID get the room for a second night. Bad form!
This is the required caterer by the Margate. They provide the linens, which are "ivory" unless you pay for some other color. For our wedding, ivory was fine, but when the linens arrived, about half of them were terribly old and looked yellow, not ivory, especially sitting next to eachother on a table. They looked old and dingy. Didn't anyone notice that? or did they just not care?? We ordered a haddock plate and a steak plate. Everyone's steak was underdone. Most people couldn't eat it.
Service however was great.
They wanted to charge us a fee for cutting the cake, since we were horrible clients and purchased our cake from someone other that themselves.. but in the end the fee was waived.
