We used the Abingdon Senior Center for our reception and the catering was provided on site. The ballroom is beautiful and was the only place in Abingdon that could comfortably accommodate ~200 guests for a seated dinner. Madeline (the catering director) was wonderful to work with. The food was good and reasonably priced. They allowed us to bring our own alcohol (with the purchase of a license from ABC - only $50), which was another big cost savings. I would recommend the Senior Center to another bride for a reception venue.
Vickie at Sweet Magnolia was wonderful to work with. She had lots of good suggestions and went out of her way to make sure I could have white hydrangeas for my out-of-season wedding. The flowers were beautiful and her prices were extremely reasonable. I highly recommend Sweet Magnolia for your floral needs.
Anna is an old friend and I had always planned to use her as my wedding photographer. However, I was BLOWN AWAY by how beautiful my photos turned out. Anna truly has a knack and an eye for taking stunning photos. Her pricing is around the average for the area, however, she includes the digital negatives with every session- invaluable! I would definitely recommend Anna!
Pros: national chain, free groom's tux with other rentals
Cons: service SUCKS. They sent my fiance home with a suit jacket that was at LEAST one size too small... simply because they didn't want to bother ordering another jacket. After calling and shouting, he had to go BACK to the store (an hour away) to exchange the jacket on the day before the wedding.
The tuxes ended up looking nice, but it was such a headache, I wouldn't use them again.
If you don't have attendants coming from all over, don't use this crappy tux rental place.
