The shop has plenty of selection and price ranges, and is not too big and overwhelming. They give you personal attention during your consultations. Kristy was great to work with. She ended up choosing something for me to try on that I never would have picked myself- and it ended up being my wedding gown!
Wendell Powell Studio takes arguably the best formal bridal portraits in the Richmond area. Their photography is beatiful and really stands out in wedding announcements in the newspaper. They use very natural lighting, and take plenty of photos for the bride-to-be to choose from. The final product is absolutely gorgeous!
One downside is that they do not have a great selection of silk flower bouquets to choose from for your portrait- bringing your own bouquet, whether real or fake, may be a better option. The most significant downside is that they do not give you a CD of all your bridal portrait images to take home with you and keep. You only get the portraits you pay for, and they are very expensive. Every other portrait photographer I had heard of in Richmond provides the bride-to-be with a CD of images.
I would recommend Wendell Powell to others, with the caveat that it is pricey and you get no take home CD with a standard package.
Ginger was very sweet and professional. She captured all the great moments of the wedding and reception. I do wish the final video had been a bit more polished and "edited," but in terms of a complete wedding video, I am happy with the result and am so glad to have those memories.
Mike Topham Photography did a great job photographing my wedding reception- they take plenty of pictures to choose from and my album turned out gorgeous! The owners are so kind and helpful.
My only wish is that they did a more artsy, photojournalistic style of photography. Many of their poses and shots were fairly basic, though again, they give you plenty of awesome pictures to choose from. Perhaps I should have made this request in an initial consultation. Overall, very pleased with the end result.
We had our wedding invitations and programs printed here. They have a ton of books to choose your design from. Their quality is wonderful and their prices are reasonable. This is one place we thought about cutting costs and doing the printing ourselves, but everything turned out so great that I'm glad we decided to have BIO do them.
Edwards Catering did a wonderful job catering our wedding reception. Their menu options are vast, and the food was delicious. The owners are easy-going but detail-oriented, and have a lot of experience in the Richmond area. They are not just caterers, but somewhat of “event planners’ as well, and can provide advice on the order and flow of the reception (events such as cake cutting, toasting, etc.). Their bartenders and servers were professional and attentive. Their presentation is superb- they have gorgeous antique silver serving dishes and “all the right touches” to give your reception a sense of classic formality, without being stuffy. They even give the bride and groom a takeaway “doggie bag” with all of the food selections from the wedding!
Edwards Catering is reasonably priced for the Richmond area, ultimately providing quality food , service, and presentation at a great value. They do a lot of their business through word-of-mouth, and I am certainly glad we heard about them!
KG was very professional, organized, and easy to communicate with. He was very flexible and willing to meet with me and my parents to settle on a playlist. But due to his experience and great music selection, he could also play a great wedding music playlist if you don't have the time to select what songs you want on your own. He brings his computer to the wedding to play the music, but also brings back-up CDs. His set-up is professional and non-obtrusive, and he has a great speaking voice for announcing special events and moments throughout the evening. There was a really good tempo and flow to the entire wedding reception, thanks in large part to KG's efforts!
