Nadine Moon of Who Made the Cake made both our wedding cake and the Groom's cake. We had a very challenging Groom's cake - a NASCAR car with logos of my husband's favorite bands and all his schools plastered all over it. Not only were both cakes exquisite, but they were delicious and very reasonably priced. I got several quotes for the NASCAR cake before Nadine, and because her work is the best I have seen in Houston, I assumed she would be way out of our league. I was wrong! Her prices are right at average, but her work blows everyone else's out of the water. I can't wait till our anniversary to eat the rest of our cake. That's how delicious it was.
We love the outdoors so registering at REI was a no-brainer. Most people don't realize that they have a bridal registry so I thought I would add it to this site.
I couldn't be happier with the food and service Bailey Connor Catering provided for our wedding. Because we had our wedding and reception at the River Oaks Garden Club, we had to bring in all the rentals, food prep equipment, everything. Veronika was totally fine with us providing our own alcohol and beverages and providing us with the bartenders. I had so many of our guests compliment the food and how the caterers had done an amazing job preparing some pretty challenging dishes for 100 people. Also, getting all the rentals selected would have been a disaster had Bailey Connor Catering not come with me to the rental company and spend hours with me selecting linens, chairs, tables, sofas, cocktail tables, FANS, chandeliers for the tent....the tent....the list goes on and on, but they made it as painless as possible for me. Once I chose all the various items, they took care of the rest of the details. The service was UNBELIEVABLE. Everyone told me they would do a good job with that, but they were so attentive to all of our guests, and they made me feel so at ease - almost as if I had hired a wedding coordinator (which I hadn't). I strongly, strongly recommend Bailey Connor Catering for a full-service job.
Jaylene did an amazing job with our wedding in April. I can't imagine there is a better photographer than her in Houston. I had so many of my guests tell me how much they enjoyed her personality (she is so friendly and funny and really knows how to relate to all different types of people), and then they gushed over her talent and skills once they saw the photos posted in the online gallery. We purchased a package that included an engagement session, and unlike many wedding photography studios in town, Jaylene doesn't send an assistant to do your engagement photos. She did the engagement session herself and used it as an opportunity to get to know us and our style. Once we saw the engagement photos online, we knew we had made the right choice - I have several of our engagement photos in our office, and I have had people tell me that we look like models (trust me, we're not, and they weren't just being polite!). The albums she puts together are contemporary but also incorporate all the classic stuff your parents want to see :). Also, she offers tiny little 2" x 2.5" color replicas of your wedding album that you can buy and give out to family/friends. They are awesome!
It was pouring rain the day before and the day of our wedding. Seeing as our wedding was supposed to take place in a garden, we were disappointed with the weather. BUT, Jaylene came up with all these creative ideas for getting photos outside with umbrellas, rubber boots, etc. Those pictures came out so great that we were HAPPY it rained!
Seeing as the online album had like 600 shots, we were having a heck of a time narrowing down the list for the album, but Jaylene emailed back and forth with us 3 or 4 times a day for like a week with suggestions/recommendations until we finally settled on our list of images. She is just so helpful, and she makes sure that you feel confident and comfortable from the time you first meet her. I just can't say enough how thrilled we are with the job she did for us. I can say, however, that we have found our family photographer for life, and I can't wait till we start having kids so we can use her for a maternity session!
Rob did a beautiful job with our flowers. I saw their booth at the Bridal Show at George R. Brown Convention Center, and I assumed based on the quality of their work that they'd would be way out of our budget. Rob worked with us to design flowers and decor for which the price was right. He really can work with any budget, and he's also very practical. For example, we wanted blue hydrangeas. He explained that the really deep blue hydrangeas would have to be imported from Holland and would be very pricey. Instead of getting my hopes up for some flowers that were out of our budget, he advised us to go with light blue hydrangeas that would be available and much less expensive. In addition, he was there on time and when I wanted my bouquet adjusted, he did it right there for me and it looked perfect.
