The Harper House is considered by the North Carolina Department of Archives and History, to possess "the finest Queen Anne interior styling in the entire state.” Accompanying it is another of Hickory’s finest structures, the Bonniwell- Lyerly House, in the Craftsman style.
The 1887 Gilded Age estate of the Queen Anne mansion, provides the picture perfect backdrop for an elegant southern garden wedding. Surrounded by period gardens, the lush North and South lawns provide space for either an intimate or a large ceremony and reception; and the quaint Carriage House serves as an elegant bridal changing room.
Turn- of- the-century Arts and Crafts interiors await guests in the adjacent Bonniwell-Lyerly House. Built in 1912, the house offers ideal space for an intimate wedding, bridal shower, or reception, within period rooms and museum galleries.
