My husband and I hired Dawn for our wedding cake, and were a bit disappointed with the experience. We were impressed with Dawn's prices, however, we did not have the best experience. My husband and I had met with 8 other bakers before deciding to go with Dawn, and each was willing to meet us at a location convenient for us, except Dawn, who, after we had signed a contract with her, required us to drive about 40 minutes to meet with her to finalize the details of our wedding cake. Having a very busy schedule already, we were not anticipating having to drive so far away for a 10 minute meeting. Our biggest disappointment came with our final wedding cake. About a month and a half before our wedding, I contacted Dawn and told her we had changed our mind about including an expensive ribbon on our cake. I made it clear we no longer wanted the ribbon on our cake. She never responded, which had been the case in the past, so I assumed she got the message. After a few weeks, Dawn e-mailed us with a picture of ribbon she had found, without a price, and asked if she should buy it and add it to our bill. I again told her we no longer wanted the ribbon on our cake. On our wedding day, we arrived at our reception only to see the ribbon on our cake. Not wanting to make a big deal out of it, we let it go, and about 2 weeks after our wedding were contacting by Dawn asking for the ribbon that was used on the cake back, so she would be able to use the used ribbon on other wedding cakes. We were never told to save the ribbon from our cake, and did not understand why she would want to re-use ribbon that she charged us for. Since we had purchased the ribbon, which we told her we did not want, we assumed it was ours and did not ask the reception site staff to keep it. Dawn also had left her camera case and business card holder on our cake table at the reception. After scrambling to figure out which of our wedding guests these items belonged to while cleaning up the reception site, we brought them home. Dawn contacted us about a week later, asking if she had left the items at our wedding, and instead of offering to meet us somewhere to come to get them, expected us (who live 200 miles away) to bring them to her place of work in Green Bay. After going to her work location 4-5 times when she said I'd be able to drop them off for her, but there being no one at the building to let me in, I asked her to pick them up from my parents' house. When she picked them up, I happened to be home visiting my parents, and answered the door. She was rude and very short with me, which I don't feel was deserved after I had made so many efforts to get her items back to her. Our wedding cake was a little dry, but okay, and tasted more like a homemade cake than a professional wedding cake. Because of our negative experience working with her for our wedding, we would not recommend her to others.
