A GREAT experience!! After doing some research, I chose to use Montrose Produce in order to support a local business that gets their flowers somewhat locally. Their supplier grows flowers in Bloomsburg, PA, which is more appealing to me than to order through a florist that goes online or gets exotic flowers from halfway around the world where a lot of effort goes into the travel and gas.

I worked with one woman at Montrose Produce who was receptive to my ideas, eager to see my photos, and flexible when I changed things even when it was getting pretty close to our wedding. As locals, they knew how and where to deliver the flowers to our off-the-beaten-path location.

We wanted a rustic, freshly picked, and sort of wildflower theme. I bought burlap that was tied around my bouquet handle, the 5 bridesmaids' bouquet handles, and the 5 groomsmen's boutonnieres and 2 dads' boutonnieres. Our contact was happy to utilize the burlap. She also helped me to cut the price down by using potted mums for centerpieces rather than 25 individually-made arrangements. We also had 5 wrist corsages for our mothers and grandmothers, a small bouquet for the flower girl and real petals for her basket, loose flowers to be arranged by our cake maker for the tops of the cakes, and a beautiful hand-done fancy arrangement for the center of the head table.

Flowers and greens of choice in a light orange, red and yellow color scheme were Asiatic lilies, dahlias, Billy buttons (craspedia), hypernicum berries, dark purple astilbe for spray, and round eucalyptus leaves to trail. The lilies did not dry well, but the dahlias, Billy buttons and berries dried well. You're really able to choose from many flowers, and they can check what is in season, if you're conscious of that. They have a variety of ways to put bouquets together, and many ribbons to choose from as well.

We were glad to have the potted mums on the tables because guests could take them home. And we still have many of them alive and well, as opposed to an arrangement that would promptly die following the wedding. The woman at Montrose Produce and I worked together on the basket choice to cover the pot, and I was really happy with those results. To be completely honest, I did not notice the mums being better or worse than any other floral centerpiece choice we could have made. Those details that seem like they'll be SO important are really not the focus on your wedding day!
