If I could offer one piece of advice it would be to go elsewhere.

I got married Fall 2014. Chose Slate because I liked their display at a wedding show, I liked their style of pictures, and their prices were affordable. Greg & Dora were friendly, explained everything we would be getting, went over the timeline of when we would receive our pictures & video, all seemed pretty simple. We got our wedding photos in early winter 2014 ( a couple of months after our wedding), we had no complaints. Keep in mind when we went to pick up our pictures (on a disc) we had to pay Slate in FULL (eventhough we were missing our video, and printed pictures and album that came with our package). From day one Greg explained that we could make our wedding video 10 mins long to an hour long with as many edits as we needed to ensure we are happy with our wedding video. Our first draft of the wedding video was horrendous, it was sloppy, zero thought put into it and missing alot of the important parts of our wedding that we had asked to be put in. Ever since then it was a nightmare for them getting back to us we would email or call them and they wouldnt get back to us until weeks later. Our video came back a little less sloppy, but this time watching it on our tv, we noticed the beginning half (first 10 mins) had a smudge on the lens, and the dancing potion of the video had Drake & Rihana (which literally was a terrible choice in song lyrics) song looping. We told Slate, even screen shot every scene the smudge was so they could see what needed to be fixed. (My husband went to school for photography, and when he saw the mark he knew that whoever used that camera did not clean their lens before filming). Slate told me they would send it out to get fixed and it would be ready for the end of October 2016. I waited until the 2nd week of November 2016 to email them, with no response. I have been emailing and calling them constantly since then with still no response. I am very disappointed in their lack of professionalism. They are paid in full and I am without a wedding video. Nobody is getting back to me, even three months later. Do not waste your time going with them. I do not know any other way to get this resolved, but I will make sure I can put my review everywhere and anywhere I can so that nobody else will have to go through what I am.

I have a feeling they will probably shut down and go under a different name or something, just stay away from GREG & DORA!! do not waste your time.

SIMPLY AWFUL. We hired Slate Photo and Video for our wedding since we saw them at the wedding show and their flyer seemed nice, so did their pricing. The team Greg and his wife Dora seemed like decent people upon our first meeting, promising 4 individuals to work on photo and video on our wedding date, a professional video as well as photographs from our wedding, photo booth and a same day edit. Everything seemed OK which led us to sign the contract and give our first deposit. Once they have our signature and $ things started changing, they claimed we didnt need 4 ppl for the wedding, 3 would do, like a child Greg huffed and puffed about the SDE he promised and having to have it ready for the day of the wedding, not 4-5 days later as he would have liked, they were extremely difficult to get a hold of before the wedding, and IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of after the wedding day., no phone call returns for weeks. The day of the wedding arrived and they seemed to have been doing their job, needless to say they didn't know the first thing of organizing photos to be taken. As unprofessional, careless and ignorant as they seemed up to the wedding, it didnt compare to how they behaved after. 6 - 8 weeks was photos and video: 8 - 12 weeks. Failed miserably, both deadlines not followed. After photos were received, they were OK, no editing except some black/white or sepia filters, we asked for our video. KEEP IN MIND they list in the contract FULL BALANCE must be paid upon receipt of photos, BEFORE they deliver the video. The video was TERRIFYING. After Greg told me he left it in the mailbox at his DANFORTH office 1 hour away from me, i drove down to pick up what i found out later with my family was a BLANK CD, when we finally got a hold of Greg with LOTS OF ATTITUDE he said hed leave a real one in the mailbox, one with White lines running through it, Rihannas we found love playing over and over, and the most unprofessional footage I have ever seen, DONT DO IT, UNPROFESSIONAL

I had high hopes for Slate - so high in fact that they were the least of my worries for the day. They were professionals, knew what they were doing and at the bridal show - clearly demonstrated a creative and exceptional portfolio. I had other vendors to micro-manage and worry about. Now that the day has come and gone and I have pictures in hand - I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am. Firstly, their attitude on the wedding day was sullen, cold and unsmiling. We stood around for most of the day waiting to be directed - to be utilized in their creative vision, to do something –anything interesting. Had we not provided a fantastic location (porter island) and getting some really unique location shots, the photos would have been a complete snooze. The quality of the creativity and "photo editing" (read: a handful of pictures that were selected as b&w) was lack lustre to say the least. The style of the photos that were taken were that of inexperience (i.e. my family portrait was severly crooked - and we're not talking about 'creative angles' here, and it was the only full length shot I have of us). Images that were over-exposed were not adjusted for colour correction as promised (contrast, brightness, shadows and highlights to correct otherwise ruined images were all my own doing). Additionally, they missed the moment that my husband saw me for the very first time. Really??? Two photographers with photos that clearly lead up to the moment and then all of a sudden the shots skip about 5 minutes (and 9 numeric digital files) after the fact. I was stunned and wanted to burst into tears. Had it not been for a video - we would have missed that moment forever. They requested a 'must have' shooting list and shot not even half of it (then why ask for one?!!) leaving me wanting more. I don't know what happened along the way - whether they lost heart or got up on the wrong side of the bed but from the moment they walked in there was a cold air about them - and I wasn't the only one who noticed, several people commented that our photographers didn't seem very open to taking pictures of the events happening or of the guests. Everything was great up to a couple months before the wedding and I regret having ever put any hopes in this company that so highly marketed themselves at the Bridal Shows. Please think twice about using them. There are so many out there that are worth your time and money for the most important day of your life. Feel free to contact me for samples of their “real” non-bridal show work.
