My fiancé and myself put a several hundred deposit down for Geffert’s catering well in advance for our wedding of about 450 guests. After sending the deposit, it was impossible to get in touch with Dan Geffert, the owner. When we called to see about doing a tasting to help decide our wedding menu, it took him over 2 weeks to call us back (after I left his several messages), and when he did call back he was very rude. He said he will not do a tasting, but if somebody else has an event he can let us taste the leftovers! What?! He also said that we should have come to the local bridal show if we had wanted to taste his food (which occurred during the time he didn’t call us back). We had also wanted his “chicken breast in wine sauce,” which he ended up telling me was chicken with brown gravy served over rice. He never called us back, and when we called him he was always extremely rude. We ended up finding another caterer who was perfect, so we called him many months out from our event date, and he said he would not return our deposit, even though on his website it says that he would. He has the worst customer service ever, and last time I checked, caterers should allow a tasting for weddings of over 450 guests.
