DO NOT BUY FROM DANIELA DIAMONDS!
I went to the diamond district to purchase an engagement ring. I selected a diamond at Daniela and they told me it will be 20 minutes to put in the setting. No refunds, exchange only. Not at my best, I left the store to get coffee, 20 minutes later came back and they said ok , come down the block for the jeweler to set the diamond, Given my excitement at the moment, I just followed the salesperson to the location to set the diamond, and didn't think much of it. I brought the diamond home and discovered that it was "Clarity Enhanced/Fracture Filled".
This significantly reduces the value of the diamond, like by half! I inspected the certificate and found that the certificate was switched. The diamond size, color and clarity was the same but it was clarity enhanced. The certificate I saw in the store was not the same as I was given after my coffee break. Of course after more careful inspection the receipt reads "Clarity Enhanced", to protect themselves, in my excitement I glazed over that, at the time. Do not buy from Daniela Diamonds in the NYC diamond district. They will rip you off big time if they can.
One more note, they provide a nice looking certificate, same colors as GIA and called Gemlogic. It must be his brother or cousin from around the corner. It is bogus. I appraised the diamond professionally afterwards and the color and clarity were off by 2 or more levels. Legally a certificate is allowed to have play, one level in either direction. I called the store and asked nicely, even thought my receipt reads exchange only, if he would provide a refund since the certificate is not within legal limits of allowable error. Of course he said come in I will exchange it for you. No thanks....
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THE STORE, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF IF THEY CAN.
And just some advice: Always get GIA, AGS or EGL certification, do not accept any other name Never let the stone leave your sight (my biggest mistake) Lookout for CLARITY ENHANCED
We wanted to go back to Philmar to get our wedding rings, however it, and many stores in the area, are closed on Sundays. We stopped into this one and it seemed okay. They had plain 14k white gold bands, which we wanted. The salesman had his calculator and did his thing to make it seem like we got a great deal - we weren't overcharged but I don't really feel like we got a super price/deal. Had it been up to me, I'd have gotten our rings for a lot less at Amazon, but hubby was okay paying to have them in hand and not have to worry about anything - so I guess we paid for comfort. All the jewelers use a person down the block to size up/down rings, so we got our rings resized on the spot (included in price). He was great and I'd go back with any jewelry issues in the future.
In all, okay experience, nothing to write home about...
