I had the worst experience using beach ball events for our wedding. We bought one of the packages that including everything even the wedding planner. The wedding planner did nothing. They actually asked my guests to take down the decorations we provided for the ceremony and reception. it was embarassing. They told me and my husband to go first in the buffet line and my photographer offered to make us our plates saying this is rediculous the bride and groom don't make their own plates. My bouquest looked like rotten lettuce. The food was okay. The dj's equipment was poor quality. The only think useful out of the entire package was the chair and tables and dining equipment and the cake by linda bradely was amazing!!! It would have been much cheaper to buy all the services separately than the package-especially since the wedding planner valued at $2000 did not do $2000 worth of work. They refused to help set up anything that they did not provide. I think if i spent $2000 on a wedding planner she would do anything i asked. All she did was send a few emails. Amanda actually took a lunch break while my freinds ran around setting everything up. I was not there for anything while i was getting my hair and make up done but it was so obvious to my guests that they said these things to me.
Just getting settled and haven't had time to write this as soon as I would have liked. I just wanted to pass along all the compliments that we received regarding the wedding. All of us agreed, that it turned out exactly as we had imagined. Your staff was wonderful and accomodating from the beginning to end. The wedding weekend where the bride and groom attends and speaks to the vendor, was a wonderful idea. It helped make a lot of decisions and put all of our minds at ease.
The entire week began with our guests arriving into their perspective homes...and the party began. It was such a special time for all of us to be able to be together on the same vacation/event. We have a close and large family and friends, and we relish every moment, together. The week's weather was ever changing, but proved to be absolutely beautiful on the wedding day. And even though the bride had a "Meet the Parents" moment and smashed the volleyball into her forehead, leaving a bump, lol, during a competitive game, the ice and makeup helped us recover from that moment. The beach ceremony was perfect and we received many compliments on the ceremony and the "cool" reverend. It was simple, but perfect!! On to the reception...when I walked into the hall I was awed and almost cried! It was simple but elegant. We could not believe how nice the centerpieces, cake, memorial table and candy station turned out. The selection of beer and wines, were perfect. The DJ played what the Bride/Groom and bridal party wanted. Now for the best part, the food was awesome! I've been to a lot of weddings and actually catered for years. This may have been some of the best food I have ever had, which was echoed by all the guests. It was hot and tasted wonderful. I am very particular on the temperature of my food, when served, but this was served at the perfect temperature. I was skeptical on the food because it is usually with good presentation, but turns out to be bland, cold or both. The tenderloins were so tender I even went up for more. The appetizers were also awesome.
We had a budget and stayed within our budget. Yeah we could have gone over budget and had an extravagent wedding, but I actually think this was the way to go, small, simple but elegant. Adriannas has a perfect location, with it's view, just added to the ambiance. As you can tell, couldn't be more pleased with this event. The entire week, ending with the perfect wedding have created such special memories for the rest of our lives, and we thank you for that! And for the record, the groom had a smile on his face the entire day, none like I have ever seen before. I wanted to blog on the knot but could not find out how to do that.
One last note, just an fyi. After booking with you, we met up with a photographer in Duck, requesting her assistance. She turned us down, saying she doesn't work with your company. Would not say anymore, I guess probably trying to be ethical. However, I must say she scared us and did not recommend going with the first one we visited. That worried all of us involved in the decision, for quite some time. Don't know what her beef was, but you could not have proven her more wrong. Needless, to say we worried for nothing!! Probably just talked to some spoiled Bridezillas, that nothing makes them happy...she didn't know we weren't like that.
Special thanks to Linda Bradley, great salesperson, convincing us this was the place to have our wedding and answering sooo many questions, that first day. I am craving that crab dip I sampled! Delicious!
Thank you so much,
Sincerely,
Eileen Aston

Wedding 5.14.2010
My wife and I are nearing our one year anniversary and as a reference for Beach Ball Events I found it odd to see such a negative review about the company. Out of concern I contacted Beach Ball Events to notify them of the review and they told me their side of the story. The wedding consisted of only 25 total people with seating for 18 because 7 were in the wedding party. All the guests were seated on a front row, and able to see the events of the ceremony. The step-mother had taken the mother of the bride's seat and was at the end of the front row, closest to the bride; therefore forcing the mother of the bride to sit at the opposite end of the front row. Although the step-mother of the bride didn't attend the wedding rehersal the day before, she should have known not to take the mother of the bride's seat (don't you think that this was done on purpose?) . Once the director started the processional, she had no control over who sat where because of the length of the dock. The Marshes Light House dock not only sits over the water but is also over 250 feet long. If the director had tried to fix the situation at the time it had happened it would have been disruptive to the ceremony as she would have had to run down the lengthy dock.
I also found out a Beach Ball employee went out of her way to cater to the couples every need by tending/watching their children before the ceremony began and at the reception for no cost! (NO TIP EITHER!) Also the bride had been contacted three hours before the reception to suggest their porch dining be moved inside Mallards Marsh due to chilly weather. The bride said no. As soon as they intered the reception, they complained about the porch temperature and wanted everything moved inside after it was already set up. The staff then had to rush to move everything in. The photography department had also given them ample amounts of extra photos. After hearing all of the above I feel Beach Ball Events went above and beyond the call of duty to provide an amazing wedding for the couple, and I'm sorry to see that they would post such negative feedback. Shame on them-our wedding at Mallards Marsh last year was awesome!!
I was married in Manteo, NC on 5/9/10. I have brought all the following information to their attention, however have not received a call back regarding these issues. The wedding planner, Rachel, did not do her job and it unfortunately cost my mom being able to watch me get married. She did not coordinate where people were to sit an...d therefore, my mother ended up sitting at the end of the row and stared at the back of dress the entire time. We also did not have the appropriate amount of chairs. I am so disappointed in not only the lack of skill by the wedding planner, but by the lack of response I have received. Please check into other reviews before booking with them as I should have done. There are plenty negative reviews on the web about them!
