I got bridesmaids dresses at Heartstrings and it was NOT a good experience. The employees did not provide me with a time-line for ordering the dresses or explain what the next steps for my bridesmaids were. I thought that I would be okay putting the order in six weeks before the wedding, but I was very wrong. It turns out they need to be ordered at least 3 months out. Thank goodness I called the day I did because we put the order in exactly 7 weeks out and we just barely got the dresses a week before the wedding. They were all way too big which meant alterations were needed. One of my bridesmaids was not able to get her dress until the morning of the wedding and it was still a bit too big and kept sliding down all night. I did not receive one phone call from the bridal shop during the whole process to let me know what to do or when to order, or check on the status. I could have easily bought dresses from a department store or ordered them online. I went with the more expensive bridal shop thinking I would receive a higher level of service (like a proactive phone call, or instructions on what to do after I decided on the dress). I should have ordered from Nordstrom, the customer service is 100xs better than Heartstrings.
I contact Heartstrings because I was sick of uptight and size 8 (wedding dress size 4 more like) bridal shops. I'm so glad I did, they had sizes and styles for everyone and every budget. We ended up getting the invitations (with which they were amazing in helping us), the bridesmaid dresses, and the tuxes there too. They are small and considerate - but huge in satisfaction.
