LOVE Have Your Cake and love Maralyn!

After interviewing several cake bakers for our wedding, we went with Maralyn because she was friendly, had yummy cake, and had some interesting cake designs.

The number one thing that set her apart from our “runner up” is that she LISTENED to us. Having never designed a cake before, we came in with an idea of the general shape of the cake we wanted (round, tiered) and then a swatch of my dress and our save the date card. Maralyn sat with us and helped us brainstorm and sketch the design of our cake. We were very pleased! (Our second choice also had amazing cake but was more expensive and the person NEVER let us complete our thoughts. As a result, that person kept thinking she knew what we were talking about and then upping the price every time we “changed” — i.e., clarified — our vision!)

My husband and I were VERY pleased with the resulting cake. It was more beautiful than I had imagined. People are still telling me its some of the best cake they’ve ever had at a wedding!

Also, I asked Maralyn for a surprise groom’s cake just one month before the wedding, which she did and it was SO cute! (Still waiting for pictures to add to the review!) GREAT attention to detail overall!
