Description

The church was built in the 1880's. Still in its original style is the steeple room and the hardwood floors. The stained glass windows are glass and the authentic wall stencil work still remains. Located in Kinderhook (Coldwater, Michigan), the church is one of the few original buildings still remaining at this four-corner intersection. Long ago this small village was once the meeting place for the local farmers to gather for worship, send their children to school, and to stop at the country store to hear the latest news.

The church sits on a spacious landscaped lot suitable for outdoor weddings or photo sessions, with a flower garden surrounding an original water fountain from Mackinaw City, Michigan, which originally graced the garden of one of the oldest restaurants near the South entrance to the Mackinaw Bridge. In the spring, we have a mixed array of flowering bulbs, which include tulips, daffodils, paper white narcissus, and grape hyacinth. When summer arrives, there is a wide variety of flowering baskets, bushes and shrubs, and a beautiful orange flowering trumpet vine creeping up the trellis. In the autumn, the hardwood trees on the grounds are a riot of color, the fall mums are in full bloom and the fire bush is flaming red. Winter is the quiet time, it is peaceful with the snow covered outside grounds but welcoming and friendly inside.
