We got all of our bridesmaid dresses from Alfred Angelo, and while it was a little more expensive than some of the other dress shops you can go to in Lincoln, the colors they offered matched what we wanted better and the service was 100% better than what I've experienced elsewhere. The store attendants are very helpful and accommodating. The store was clean and organized.
I loved them! Great military discount which is a bonus. My dress was beautiful the alterations were perfect. One of my bridesmaids was pregnant when she bought her dress. By time she was able to try on her dress she realized that the dress was made incorrectly! They fixed everything for free and it was ready by the wedding day.
My initial experience at Alfred Angelo was excellent. My friend and I both received great service from a visiting manager of another one of their locations. We both ordered our dresses that day. Once we paid for our dresses the service went downhill. My friends dress came in and was HUGE! They claimed that it was the size she ordered. After great argument with them she convinced them to order the same dress in the size she requested to compare. Sure enough the factory made a error and the store was willing to let her trade them. I orginially planned to take my dress home 2 months early as I was flying back for my wedding in NC. I went for my first tailor appointment. The store told me it would be about 200 to shorten the dress and add a bustle; however when I went to their tailor she informed me that because of the lace overlay it would be 500 to shorten and add a bustle. She did an excellent job shortening the dress and adding the bustle. I then decided to leave my dress with her and have the final fitting there instead of in NC. Big Mistake! At my next appointment (that she scheduled) there were at least 10 girls waiting for my "appointment time". She tried to charge me "rush" alteration charges when she is the one that scheduled the appointment at that time. She spent very little time with me so I walked out of the store questioning whether the dress was going to fit when it was done and almost in tears because she had been so mean. When I returned to pick up my dress she again had done a great job but they charged me 120 in addition to the original 500 and she was very rude and rushed! My advice to you is go somewhere else to get your dress. This is not how wedding dress shopping is supposed to be. If you do choose to buy one of their dresses because you can't resist the price definitely get your alterations done somewhere else.
My mother, bridesmaids and I all purchased dresses from Alfred Angelo. My mom is the only person who made her purchase at an actual Alfred Angelo store location. My dress was in bad shape. It had a hole in it but fortunately it was on the underside. The day of my bridal portraits we found out how cheap the thread is because the button on the back of the dress completely popped off. And I lost beads during one the fittings and a bunch of them at the wedding. Then it rained during the ceremony and the red accent in the dress bled through the white.
My mom was fitted at the Alfred Angelo store and they insisted she get her size in "wide" even though she didn't need to. She did as they advised. The dress came back labeled in the size she ordered and it was way too big. She took it to a seamstress who said she cut enough material out of the inside of the dress to make it 3 sizes bigger than the label indicated! My sister's dress didn't require someone to cut it to know it was 3 sizes too big because it hung off of her so much. She ended up paying the same amount as the cost of the dress to have it altered. And then the ribbon around the middle which was sewn into the dress completely came unsewn on the wedding day.
On top of all that, the bridesmaid dresses were ordered in time but almost did not arrive on time because of a company-wide delay. My guess is that it's because they are made cheaply overseas.
