Actually…listen to this one. This might help. I just got off the phone with a smaller hotel…Avondale by the Sea. What the guy said is that as you move closer to the wedding date if they have one night open they’ll let you book it. I know this will have you biting your nails but it might be an option for the last minute people. For example, we’re finalizing plans next weekend on Friday. We have mtgs the entire day in Cape May and want to stay the night. If it’s available he said he’d do it if no one calls after the weekend for the 2 nights. This is reasonable b/c some hotels and bb’s don’t even do this. Good luck!

However I have gotten to the point where I am emailing them info just so that they can book there rooms faster. My wedding is in 72 days and more then half of my guests have not booked yet, did I mention it is labor day weekend!!

I’m a bit surprised that the hotels in Cape May have a 2 night minimum even for the last weekend in October! I mean I understand for the Grand Hotel since they’re a convention center but all the little ones too? You’d think they’d want to fill their rooms rather than getting that picky. My guests are complaining about this too. I prefer they not come if they’re complaining.

FREZZA99, do you have the contact info for the house that you rented for your wedding? I am getting married at the Alcott next summer and have been looking for a place to rent for the week leading up to the wedding. I also like that there is a possibility to have the reception there. Thanks so much for your help. You can email the info at [email protected] or post it on here. Thanks again!

Cape May also has guided Ghost Tours which are probably all the better during Halloween season. Enjoy!

That sounds like fun!!! So far we’re thinking we could rent out the mini golf place (if they’re open), set up a golf day for the serious golfers, trolley tours, shopping extravaganza, and something kind of “haunted” in nature since it’s the week before Halloween and we’re planning an elegant, Halloween themed wedding. It’s the end of October so the weather will be anywhere from 40-80 degrees!

The guys in our group did a charter fishing boat and the women all went to a nail salon. There is also the zoo.
For our rehearsal dinner we did a clam bake. We had rented a shore house for the week and had it at the house, in the backyard. It was tough finding someone willing to let us do it but the house wound up working perfectly. It was a clam bake with Lobster and chicken. It was about 50 people in all (everyone who had come in early). The company, from Toms River, was Melanie’s clambakes and they were excellent!

We are currently signing a contract with the Hotel Alcott. We really felt the Grand Hotel and Congress Hall were lovely but were too big for us…we’re having a small wedding. We’ve chosen Summer Station, Avondale by the Sea, and the Grand Hotel as optional places to stay. We’re planning on making it like a destination wedding with a full weekend of plans. We’re sending out Save-The-Dates now. We’re now trying to figure out activities for the weekend. Thanks for all of your help!

Well I am getting married on labor day weekend, so all of the hotels are a 3 night min. which really sucks. Some of my guests are complaining, because they really do not want to pay for all three nights. They seem to be ok with two but not three. I am trying to tell them and convince them that it is a nice holiday weekend in cape may plus a wedding. I enough stuff to worry about I can’t worry about their complaints. I assigned this finding hotels job to the best man.

I had given everyone a list of hotels to stay at since I knew the Alcott would be a little expensive for some people. The majority of our friends stayed at the Grand hotel (which has an indoor pool) and then the Montreal Inn. The grand has rooms in many price ranges so that was the most popular. They are right next to each other and a close enough walk to the Alcott that no one drove to the reception.
If you are getting married between Memorial and labor day some of these hotels will require a 2 night minimum so you may want to check that out for your guests.
I kept a list of all these hotels on our wedding map and everyone was able to find some option.

I am getting married at the grand in August and have a bunch of our frinds from college and high school coming they are renting out these condo suites and they will end up being $220 a person for 3 nights. They each fit 10 people and they are on the water. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, and the doorsopen up onto the water. They are so nice and seem affordable. Hope this helps you out

I was married in Cape May last June. Many of our family members who could not splurge stayed at the Heritage Motor Inn: http://www.heritageinncapemay.com.
The rooms are straightforward but clean and not old or musty. (I think it was remodeled not too long ago.) Also, it has a pool and is just across the street from the beach (great view) and arcade/shopping area. I would especially recommend it for those with kids.
Have fun!! Our wedding was a blast!

So…most will stay with us at the Alcott for our wedding. The unfortunate part is that not everyone could afford it. Can you suggest any AFFORDABLE, quality places to stay in prime Cape May that my guests won’t smell mold, see bugs, etc. An indoor pool would be a plus. So far I’ve thought of: LaMer Beachfront Inn, Summer Station Condotel, and the Jetty Motel. Thanks!
