I’m hoping to get married at Olin Park, but am unsure at this point. If you do decide to go with that location I hope you post pictures.
I’ve been to a wedding at Folklore Village and on field trips there with the school where I work. It is a lovely place for a very warm, welcoming, family style wedding. I loved the place. I would actually consider it for my wedding but I want to keep mine within the city of Madison.

We did not end up getting the Olin Park Pavilion & we still don’t understand how that happened since we had someone at the beginning of the line listening for our date to be taken. Oh well. We found a church that fits us well for the ceremony and are having our reception at The Dry Bean in Fitchburg.

Hello, I am from southwest WI. There is a very unique Barn Venue between Hollandale and Blanchardville WI. It is call the “Happy Barn”. The inside has seating, very cool antique wall decor, raised stage for a DJ / Band, and a newly added deck. I have attened two weddings at this location. Here is the info: 608-967-2530 or 608-574-0542. Address: 7893 McKenna Rd, Hollandale, WI. I am not finding their webpage at the moment. You will have to ask about it if you call.
Good Luck planning your wedding! : )

That is a beautiful venue. My guest list exceeds the capacity. One of the not so great perks of having a large family. I will definitely send people your way. The place looks great.

Same with me. The cedar hill barn is amazing! Our guest list is bigger than that as well and a little far away for us.

We have friends who have a barn which they are now renting out for weddings, etc. It is a georgous old barn which was redone a few years ago for their daughter’s (our daughter-in-laws’s) wedding. You can find more information at: http://www.obrienhybrids.com
…good luck!, Fred

jamechap…if you go to the website and see the name Connie…she is our daughter-in-law and I would defer to her for more of the specifics. I would say that thou I am a city slicker, I helped on the redo of the barn and I have fallen in love with it. This time of the year it looks a little stark, but when summer comes, they (the O’Brien’s/and my wife), take pride in the flower gardens around the barn. The milk house has been converted to restrooms; two sets of stairs have been created to the massive hay mound area. The whole building is very sound as all the steel support beams were re-welded, all the wood in the lower previous milking area was sandblasted …in fact some of the old farmers in the area marvel at the wood…thinking it had been replaced! Thou there are many small features, one that I like is the area in the back of the barn where there is a firepit!
Again, Good Luck, Fred

Where is that barn located? I tried to find an address, but couldn’t.

Thanks!

One of the truly magical things about the O’Brien Barn venue is that it is so new that a website hasn’t been completed yet…the family is trying to get the message out between chores, but at this point, the website is only partially complete. If you would like to see a little more of the barn as a possible wedding site, please go to http://www.obrienbarn.com…there you will see what in years to come will be a popular gathering place for a variety of joyous ceremonies. This one time working barn has been and will continue to be the heart of a proud farm family.
…hope this helps in your search, Fred

Thanks jamechap. I did look into that for our reception, but were a few things that turned me off to it. Thanks for your help! I think we have pretty much set on Olin-Turville Park Pavilion for our ceremony and The Dry Bean for our reception. Other ideas are always welcome though!

Please check out our web page at http://www.cedarhillbarn.com
We rent out our 1870s replica barn rebuilt in 2005, as a cedar post and beam barn with a stone foundation. It is surrounded by a 5 acre lawn of trees, ponds, a creek bed, & flower gardens. Couple get married outside, with a back up of the barn. We serve couples that want a unique place for family and friends to relax and get to know each other, instead of the tight hotel setting. We have a large stone fire pit and room for lawn games of any type. We would love to talk to you and hear your ideas for a unique wedding!

Hi Jamie,

I’d love to give you some ideas- in fact, when I got married last year, that’s pretty much how I got inspiration for my planning: by looking at photographer’s websites! 🙂

My website is http://www.studionoveau.com, and there are a few rustic wedding pictures on there. But if you email me through the site, I’ll give you the password to check out two galleries from some of the more rustic weddings I photographed. Those brides were incredibly talented and creative at planning!

I haven’t yet photographed anything at the Pedretti Party Barn, but I have two weddings planned there for this summer. So we’ll have to stay in touch!

Lastly, I’m not in Madison, but I shoot several weddings there each year. (I don’t charge travel for Madison because I live between Spring Green and La Crosse.) My prices are all on my site. 🙂

Hello Angela and Jaime,
I have been involved in several weddings at Folklore Village. It’s really a fabulous venue. Another option for an outdoor wedding near Madison is Paradise Park. They don’t have a barn, but they have a gorgeous outdoor venue.
