Doesn’t look like this topic has been responded on over 6 months. My fiancee and I just got engaged and are starting to plan our casual wedding, with the ceremony in Penticton and a week later a reception in Calgary. We live in Saskatoon, SK, but love the scenery on Penticton, we are planning for Sept 10, 2011. Looking for casual outdoor ceremony, was thinking about the rose garden(riverside park) we are planning to go to Penticton this summer to scout things out, but any ideas. Didn’t realize our easy, casual wedding could be quite difficult planning from 2 provinces away. Any suggestions, ideas would be great!

Hey Karli, my fiance and I are having our ceremony and reception at the ramada it backs a golf course and to just have a ceremony its around 250. Check it out! Were having I there sept 17 2011. There is a beautiul courtyard, they’re very accomodating, and there’s a nice set of stairs you could walk down 🙂 if not the ornamental gardens in summerland is pretty much free… The gardens in kaleden are great for ceremony only too…

Did you check out the rose garden at all? We would like to stay right in Penticton for the ceremony, afterwards we will just have a casual supper and hang out for the rest of the weekend. If we get married in a park is there anything that we have to do with the city for their ok? I know I have a whole year to plan but I want my simple, casual ceremony to go off without a hitch

Hi everyone. I realize a lot of your messages are old, but maybe this will attract some new comers. I am getting married September 17th, 2011 and am already trying to decide on a venue! (I will be living in Hinton AB while planning the wedding. I would prefer to have it around the Kaleden/Penticton area, and my fiance wishes to look at vineyards. I am open to any ideas for reception/ceremony sites! Or both in one… any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

HI! Anna, do you have pictures of the Waterfront Ballroom? Are you and all your guests staying there as well? We are looking at booking it, but I am from out of town and have not had the opportunity to see it! Do you have pictures of the ballroom? I have also read both good and bad reviews of the hotel on TravelAdvisor. What was your take on it? Was it clean?

Hey, no unfortunatley I don’t have any pics of the ballroom. It’s niely done though, neutral colors, there’s french doors out onto a patio that looks onto the lake. It’s beautiful at sunset! Very open and large room.
The Waterfront resort is very clean, very nice, but pretty pricey! One night in a room can run you $270.00, they book you a block of rooms for your guests, but sadly there’s no discount, even for you on your wedding night……
But, that said, Kirsten the coordinator, is very nice, and very helpful!

You will have to let me know how it goes! Our wedding will be in September. Trudy is my coordinator and she seems really nice as well. Quick to respond. Have you tasted the food there? What dinner are you guys going with? I am looking for a vineyard for the ceremony, though. Am not 100% sold on the $550 to set up for the beach one… Any suggestions?

I thought I would join in your conversation….we had planned a Squamish wedding at a campsite (true to us) but as the guest list grew to over 175 and we kept finding out the cost of tents, chairs, etc etc we bailed…good thing the invitations weren’t out yet. We are looking at Naramata (my brother and his family have a place there) for June 20th. I need to find an officiant and would love any advice or suggestions from the two of you.
We always wanted something intimate and casual- so we are looking at the park/beach or a couple of the cottages/resorts.
I swear if I could turn back time, we would have eloped 🙂

Hi! As far as an officiant I googled “wedding commisioner” and a list of ones in the area popped up. There are only 3 in the Penticton – Summerland area so you might want to call them right away.
We are having Heather Byer (BC Wedding Commisioner) marry us. She was extremely nice and very prompt in getting back to me.
Her number is 1-250-276-5936.
The fee is $75 + $3.75gst= $78.75
$50 goes to the commisioner and the government gets $28.75.

we’re getting married at Lang Vineyards in Naramata, and the reception is at my parents home on the bench in penction (on the road to Naramata). Our date is July 4th!

we’re going with Joy Road catering, Daniel Hayduk photography, and Westminster rentals. Oh and Blue Icing desserts. Hm… thats about it!

i’m from vancouver, so i’m planning it all long distance. heading up next weekend for a bridal show, see if i need any other local vendors.
