Hi Nicola, We have just got married at Castell De L’Oliver, So if you need any pointers then please ask, as we know how it feels. I will say one thing though, you seriously have to do this, as it’s quite unbelievable. If you need any help on photographers, florists etc, then ask and we’ll be happy to help. Hi Nicola, congrats on your upcoming wedding! We used Laura from Crystal Events. She is catalan but grew up in the US so speaks perfect english as well as spanish and catalan. She was really helpful in communicating to all the vendors to get us what we wanted for our wedding (which was much smaller than yours will be, we only had 28 guests!), and the best was when something did go a bit wrong or wasnt to my liking, she was our champion and sorted everything out for us right away. It was hard enough to plan a wedding and figure out what i wanted, but she made it so much easier and did most of the work for me. 🙂 she recommended to us the most wonderful guitarist, officiant and photographer, and on top of that her prices are reasonable… Hope this helps, and best of luck with everything! no matter what i know u will have a great barcelona wedding! un fuerte abrazo, Amanda

Maybe you are all sorted now but I saw your post and thought I’d tell you about my catalan wedding to give you some more ideas and options. We got married last year in Girona, about an hour away from Barcelona, and it was absolutely fantastic. It is a beautiful city with amazing achitecture and a very romantic atmosphere. Also if you are needing a wedding photographer, I’d really recommend Nikki Higgins who did ours. She lives in Girona but I think she travels all round Catalonia. She is English but also fluent in Spanish which is helpful. She was so friendly, flexible and professional. Her photos were gorgeous and really captured the day so well. I am hoping some of you ladies can help me. Feeling a bit overwhelmed planning my wedding in spain next year and although it’s a way off I am starting to panic I may not find anywhere.

Does anyone know a good planner who speaks the language that could help?

Also el convent does look wonderful, but where are you and your guest staying? Is it somewhere close by.

Looking to cater for about 120 people and ideally have accomodation. Really like the look of Castell d’oliver but not sure if I have to go through a planner?

Hi, Unfortunately I’m not one of the ladies, but can certainly help you in guiding you around the Castell De L’Oliver route as myself and my girlfriend are getting married there in two weeks time. We are getting married in El Convent this upcoming Sept. and are absolutely thrilled about our wedding! El Convent is simply amazing, it just takes your breath away. We’re going to have a ceremony outdoors, overlooking the water, and then a Cava reception and a sit-down meal inside the old Monks’ living quarters. I can’t wait for my wedding day!

We’re going out to Barcelona for the last time (before the wedding) in July for our menu tasting. Laura of Crystal Events is planning our wedding, and is so wonderful to work with. She’s extremely accommodating and has helped us so much! El Convent recommended her and we’re so happy to have found her.

I’ll send you pictures of my wedding in Sept, but if you get a chance to go to Spain before then you should definitely go to see El Convent!

I will be visiting Barcelona soon, and so I’m looking for mixed couples who are about to get married. I am interested in the most characteristic combinations in Spain – with North Africans, Black Africans, Asians, South Americans, East Europeans, etc. When I find suitable candidates, I could come and take some photographs of their wedding ceremony, if – of course – they agree. It is not meant to be for commercial purposes, but for art purposes only – the idea is to make an art book with the selection photographs and an exhibition in one or more art galleries in Europe, all supported by the ECF.

Also, I must add that my aim is strictly artistical and I have no intention to ruin someone else’s job (if someone for example wishes to employ an official wedding photographer for the wedding), only to make nice and interesting photographs for the art’s sake, though the wedding couple will surely get some photos at the end of the project.

hi, yes the venue is perfect fir that size. We originally thought we would have 120 and ended up with 70. Also your budget wil easily cover it including all extras like transport, flowers, music, etc. Sorry not much time to write as we are on honeymoon now in vietna!

We just got married at Castell de l’Oliver in October and it was incredible! We looked at a lot of venues in Barcelona but nothing compared to it. I have put some into about it on my Wedding Mapper page so try and have a look at that. My husband & I got married in Barcelona in Sept 08 & we had our reception in Mas Coll, a small, family run restaurant (seems mostly to cater to weddings though) in Allela, just up the coast to the north of the city – it was really beautiful & I would highly recommend the food, location & staff – they couldn’t do enough for us (the staff don’t have much english though- be warned). They have 2 rooms, a larger one which I think would suit your size group & a smaller room in the cellar which was perfect for our 50 guests. Our wedding map is Lorraine & Robert if you want to have a look, there’s not many photos of the venue but if you have any interest I’d be happy to send some on – if I can help I’d be glad to. I understand how stressful the whole thing can be!
