I am from Luxemburg, WI and we do not want to get married in a church. What are some ideas besides the back yard wedding for this area?

Hi there. I just started making baskets and actually made a western style themed wedding basket which I will try to attach to this. A couple of ideas are the bride wears a white cowboy hat, white dress that comes up a little in the front to show some “granny boots”, groom black cowboy hat….bridesmaids wear a really cute shirt with black jeans….groomsmen black jeans, western shirt. Outdoors of course maybe out in a pasture setting but with no cows LoL…..for favors or centerpeices, take red and clear hurricane glasses and wrap western style material around them…if you look at the basket picure you can kind of see how I did them.

I helped my friend put together a cowboy birthday party for her little boy, and came across some wedding sites that have a collection of western/country wedding accessories. This site, Brides Village, has cake toppers, favors, centerpieces, serving utensils, and other things all in the western theme! I didn’t even know that many western wedding accessories were out there. Check it out – looks like a lot of fun things to choose from!

I happen to love the cowboy/cowgirl boot vases and the tub-style centerpiece:

Angela, you might like the mini hay bales to decorate your tables, since you are having a barn theme (they come in a larger size too, if these are too small):

Here’s another site that sells western items, including apparel:

Have fun looking around – this is a fun theme to plan!

i know a girl based out of nashville who is a professional line dancer and has been hired to teach a few fun group dances at weddings and that’s always been a hit. i think she’s fairly reasonably priced and it’s a good way to get people involved in the reception who might just normally stay on the sidelines.
check her out — jennycainproductions.com
(she recently choreographed alan jackson’s latest line dance hit for the “good times” video. so she’s good. and super fun to work with.)
obviously she lives far away but i like the idea anyway…
good luck!!

I am getting married on September 25, 2010. We are having a country/barn/cow themed wedding. Not quite western, but along the same lines. The venue we are looking at for the ceremony is a pavilion in one of the parks here in Madison, WI. It’s barn shaped and we’re thinking of having hay bales decorating with hay spread all around the floor with an aisle over it in the middle for us to walk down on. We’re also looking at purchasing customized cow bell keychains for favors and a larger one to hang from a trellice (?) at the front of the pavilion for the ceremony. Our reception venue we are looking at is an actual barn that has been redone on the inside for such events. I like the colors green and purple and with talking with my bridesmaids they feel purple will bring out the fall colors better. A friend of mine was married last year in October as well and the bouquets were made out of fake leaves with the orange, red, and yellow fall colors. The bridemaid dresses also went with this theme. I’m also looking at getting a feed trough for the reception for presents to sit in. Those are just a few ideas I guess. Like I said, a little different, but along the same lines. Good luck!

I don’t know if this would be western, but it is definitely outdoors. They couple I photographed likes to fish and camp and hunt, so they used that in their theme. It turned out so good, I think Martha would have been pleased. The bride chose burlap table clothes that were custom cut, river rocks in huge vases with white thick pillar candles, mason jars for drinks, fresh wild flowers, picnic tables were covered in gingham, she served sweet teas and barbecue from white platters that looked so gourmet, they put beer in a canoe, and the centerpieces were palm fawns, magnolias, and berries all from the surrounding area. Their lighting was Christmas lights strung across and large white lanterns placed on the lights. If you would like to see some photos, I can send you the link.

I got married August 2nd, 2008 in Estes Park, Colorado, so the wedding naturally took a Western theme. The rehearsal dinner was a BBQ (open tent, checkered table cloths, jeans & cow boy boots, bolo ties, pine tree centerpieces, etc). For the wedding ceremony itself, we were married outside in a field. My bridesmaids (picture attached) wore traditonal dresses with brown cowboy boots. I did the same, but you only saw my boots when I was walking. My husband arrived to the ceremony on a horse (maybe a little over the top, but worth the laugh) with a cowboy hat, but was otherwise dressed traditionally. As the location added to the feel of things, I really only added small touches to lend itself to the overall western feel.
