My bridesmaids wore dresses that we had picked out and ordered from a dress shop here in Hays called Cupid's Corner. We were impressed with the dress style and color options available and got everything ordered quite early, but as we would order extra fabric or shoes, Cupid's Corner failed to call us almost every time we had a product ship in. Their service was less than impressive, but the dresses were absolutely gorgeous and we were happy that we could order our own material in a matching color for a family friend to sew for the flower girls.
Rosie Leiker of Munjor, KS baked our wedding cake for us and also prepared homemade mints for us, which were amazing. She is very traditional and old-fashioned, but when my husband and I brought her our own photos of ideas, she did everything 100% how we had hoped and was more than happy to do so. The detailing of our frosting was impeccable and our guests commented on how delicious and fresh the cake tasted! Our cake was square-shaped and she was able to track down a square cake holder -- each layer alternated between vanilla and chocolate and the frosting was butter cream. It was FANTASTIC!
The bridesmaid's and flower girl's shoes were all purchased from Payless Shoes in our Hays, KS mall. We thought we'd have to go out of town for some nice dress shoes, but Payless had a new stock of shoes that you could have dyed in a color from their many, many options. The color was perfect and the shoes shipped to us in just about a week -- great serviced, excellent prices and they were gorgeous and comfortable! You can even make the order for colorized dress shoes online at their website, which was handy when I needed an extra pair in a short amount of time!
Our reception site catered our wedding meal. Though you could only choose between the standard ham, turkey or roast beef, the roast beef and side dishes tasted fantastic and guests got their food quickly. They served the head table themselves, which was another bonus. It was very hard getting ahold of this venue whenever we had questions or concerns, which was very unfortunate, but the food, itself, was fine. We had roast beef, chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes & beef gravy, buttered corn, tossed salad and fresh dinner rolls with butter.
My bridal gown was purchased at A Bride's World in the Centennial Mall of Hays. The service was decent and the dress options are pretty great for a small town. I also ordered my shoes here toward the very end when we were crunched for time -- they ended up being too big, but the shop was able to replace them quickly, lucky for me! Their options for bridesmaid dresses weren't too terrific, but I'd recommend them for a bride! My veil and tiara were also purchased here and they were beautiful. Not many options for tiaras at all, but we had little time left and I was able to find one that I thought was nice! My garter and jewelry were purchased through vintage online shops!
Our groomsmen were given personalized cufflinks that we had special-made from etsy.com -- Etsy is a vintage site with endless possibilities. My bridal jewelry was vintage and purchased here, as well, as were a few of the personalized gifts we gave to our wedding party! Etsy is great!
